Mario Bros 2 US (Doki Doki Panic) vs Mario Bros 2 JP (The Lost Levels)

Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Bros 2 US (Doki Doki Panic) vs Mario Bros 2 JP (The Lost Levels)

I choose...

Mario Bros 2 US (Doki Doki Panic) 36 90.00%

Mario Bros 2 JP (The Lost Levels) 4 10.00%

Total:40

I pretty much echo the general consensus. Despite the quirky gameplay that was the result of it originally being a different game unrelated to SMB, SMB2 USA was the better game. It was fun, imaginative, and introduced things now canon to the SMB series. Meanwhile, The Lost Levels was just a "mission pack sequel," utilizing the same core graphical assets (with some additional background tiles), music, and gameplay as the original and cranking up the difficulty far beyond what anyone would deem reasonable. It did nothing to move the series forward, and it just plain wasn't fun.

Doki Doki Panic for me and it's not even close.

Doki Doki Panic easily. It was an actual new game and it felt like a new adventure. Also being able to play one of four unique characters was a great feature that really made the game stand out. It was tons of fun and is an eternal classic of a game. Videogamedunkey rates it as the best game of the year every year.

The Lost Levels kind of feels like a troll game. Calling it an expansion of the first game is being kind. The game is hard in unfair ways. Not cool man.

I'd be keen to hear from one of the 4 who voted for Lost Levels as to why they prefer it over DDP.

I do not think Lost Levels was super hard, but it was kinda dull IMO.

Doki Doki was a much more interesting Mario game, even if it was just a reskin.

I had both on Super Mario All-Stars.

I like Doki-Doki more.
