Would you rather Bioware remain with EA for a lot of platforms, or be bought by a console maker and fixed, but on only one system

Forums - Gaming Discussion - Would you rather Bioware remain with EA for a lot of platforms, or be bought by a console maker and fixed, but on only one system

What would be worse

Bioware staying with E.A,... 7 17.95%

Bioware returning to form... 9 23.08%

Bioware returning to form... 18 46.15%

Bioware returning to form... 5 12.82%

Total:39

Bioware is dead, no matter who owns it it's not going to reach the same geights as before. It's just that EA is reeeeallyy toxic as well, so that's twice the negative influence on the team.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

They just need to work with a publisher that is less concerned about hitting release date targets. EA isn't the right fit. We.know that MS and Nintendo are okay with pushing release dates as needed. Sony probably is too, though I can't think of many examples right now. The problem is that publishers that have few other businesses with which to cover revenue and profit shortfalls from missed release dates have no choice but to push the devs to ship, whether the game is truly ready or not. MS is so huge that a missed game here and there doesn't even register on the financial statements. Sony is diversified enough to cover pretty well also. Ninty....they just seem to be able to take a long-term view. So, even though a big game delay will make a real difference in their financial results in a given quarter or year, their shareholders know that Ninty is playing the long game. So, they don't put the same kind of pressure on them as an Activision or EA may feel.

What we really need is for one of these big publishers to be taken private, so they can stop worrying so much about quarterly and annual results. That would be excellent for gamers and devs, as the pressure to release games before they're ready would.immediately cease.

Valve and ZeniMax (Bethesda's parent) are both privately owned. Problem is there aren't a lot of multi-billionaires out there who want to run a game company for chuckles.

Been about a decade since their last good game, so it's hard to really care.

I'd rather have no games than exclusive games. There are plenty of developers that do great multiplatform games, exclusivity is not needed at all to make great games.

The ratio of great exclusives vs great mp games disagrees. And with it a very many buyers of Sony and Nintendo exclusives.

Hunting Season is nigh...

Yeah.  I guess my theory falls apart when we look at Bethesda Game Studios games.

Their orignal home is PC, where Xbox came from I do not know. So yeah, MS should step in, consoles are not needed.
