As expected but at the same time if they are really going to add stuff till december it should not be a surprise.  Adding a track a month with +60 items has an cost to make... It is better this way than making it dlc...

As long as they don't dramatically increase the cost of items I couldn't care less. As you've already managed to purchase everything available for free, and I don't think I'm far off.

Not surprised either, but that's a bad move from them, because it means they kept this under wraps, while earning glowing praise and goodwill from the community and review sites, then opting to implant them after that process was completed.

They aren't the only ones to do this, but I hope it does not become a new trend for AAA publishers and indie devs, going forward.

TBH, as long as it doesn't affect the pricing afterwards this wouldn't necessarily be a bad trend imo. Because it forces the game to be reasonable, and a good game, without micro-transactions at launch.

Prices for Skins/Karts/Decals in CTR and coins earned for races is already established, so it would be difficult for them to try and raise the prices to push people to buy coins and if they did so there would be a backlash, backed by evidence.

So MTX being added at a later date may actually be good for the game because they're forced to make the game enjoyable without it.

Hmm I am not sure it would create a negative buzz, maybe at the beginning but then more and more people will see it is not hard to obtain what you want in the game, it is only an issue for people who want everything.  They could have made a season pass or worse let people pay for some of the costumes/carts etc.

How many games are released last year(s) that got significant support after it's release without MTX? That's no excuse but the initial package was already amazing and the first week after it's release people complained about the wumpa coins but after that week the complains stopped because people could buy very fast what they wanted.  The only people that seem to complain now are the ones who want everything and euhm ofcourse the online experience...

edit:  The only game I came up with is GTA (online).

I'm not upset any the option for paid coins. The game is already super complete and it's been more than fair with its rewards. I imagine new users will be able to catch up with older players... But they're gonna have to pay the price.

I disagree. I'm not a fan of this tactic and I don't at all like the "as long as" pov, because that's primarily what allows these things to spread. I want the root cause cut off and no nurturing of it either. Just make the game as is, ship it and give out the content, be it paid or free, but don't try to solidify MT's being at home, because they weren't at home to begin with in the old days.

I've already caught wind of how they nerfed coin gains, in order to create a problem, to then make the MT's more appealing. Wolf YoungBlood does this, and they patched out the cheat engine, thus showing that they 100% want you to buy into those gold bars, or suffer a tedious grind.

You have to look at it from how we used to game, as back then, we didn't have to do insane tedious grinds, because we had shortcuts, cheats, pickups and the like. Now we have to pay for those, or just not have any at all. You also have to realize that, just because it's not a grind for you, or it's easy for you to gain X amount of resources, to bypass paying, doesn't mean it's objectively the same for everyone else. If you want to play a patience game, then force your patience as a rule over everyone else, (should never do that for a start) then you're only going to come off as pompous and arrogant.

Not sure how adding MT;'s objectively makes a game superior, than it does without them. Warped logic to me, because if that's how it's factually to run, then all games should be crammed to the brim with MT's, past and present, as well as future.

I meant adding them later rather than including them at launch may be better.

But why add them in later, when you could simply not touch what was good before?.

Why this urge, this need, to do so?. I'm aware it's to make money, but is making a game and selling it not good enough?, if not, that's greed, and if it's "games are expensive to make", then you're lazy and lousy with your budgeting.
