Good for them. Backers (or rather, a relatively small vocal minority, with many repeat offenders) have been complaining left and right on the kickstarter comments section. It's a great game and I'm glad they're dedicated to fixing the Switch version. I'm VERY happy with my PC version though.

Switch Version runs like ass, so I'm gonna add this to my GoG wishlist instead.

Just got my backer kit in the mail! Didn't have time to play it before work, but I'm looking forward to playing it tonight! So psyched! I have the Switch version of course, but these guys have been so transparent throughout the whole process and so supportive of the backers and everybody, so I have full faith in them to get the Switch version up to par.

Switch performance issues update:

I've got the Switch version and I'm not even mad. How often do you see a company with the integrity to own up to things this quickly and commit to actually getting things right, right away? And being this transparent about their process?

Damage control is a common practice. They knew about the state of their game, but launched it anyway.

Integrity would be something along the lines of "We prioritized other platforms over Switch, so the version for Nintendo's console is nowhere near ready to launch. It will arrive a few months later, but as compensation for the delay the paid DLC will be included at no extra cost for Switch owners."

Releasing a faulty game and then promising to improve it to the state it should have launched in is no reason for gratitude.

Fair enough. Perhaps I've let my standards down after I've seen how Bethesda has handled things. And EA. Releasing completely unfinished games and then not fixing them, or promising to fix them and breaking them more, or taking months to add basic content like NPCs, or promising some sort of "roadmap" of content that was basically a plan to finish the game, then not even sticking to that. Meanwhile Bloodstained just has its fair share of bugs, and they're working on it straight away. But I suppose I should wait until they actually fix it before I say anything, and see how long it takes them to at that. As a backer, I got to see the emails they put out about the various problems throughout development, and they would tell us what their plan was to fix it, and usually they'd report back to us with progress. Like when the first trailer came out and people were ripping it a new one because it looked like shit, they screenshotted some of the criticism in the emails, saying, yeah, we see what you've been saying, and agree, we hired these guys to help, we'll get it dealt with, and then a few weeks later they were showing us the screenshots of the improvements they'd made. So I have some faith in these guys built up throughout my process with them as a backer. Unlike some of the other things I've backed, like Yooka Laylee, which I massively regret backing now. Got nothing from Playtonic but empty PR nonsense, and didn't even get my copy of the game.

Just played it for half an hour on the Switch... eh, it's playable. I wouldn't mind carrying on with it if I didn't have another choice, I really wouldn't. But I do have another choice, and since I did find myself going "this probably looks a lot better on another platform", PC it'll be - for now, at least.

Update: yeah PC version is a hell of a lot better lol. Comparatively, the game feels sluggish on the Switch - it's not just the framerate, everything feels slower, I was struggling to do mostly anything and just thought that's how the game is. But nah, it's the Switch version all right.

I do hope they fix the performance eventually though, because I'd love to play this on the Switch. But for now, PC will do.

Damn. Bummer. All I have access to is the Switch version. Maybe it's for the best that I couldn't play it today before work. I might just wait a few days and see if there are any quick improvements made. Just to prevent my first impression from being made of the game at its worst.

I mean, that was my first impression too and I wasn't thinking the worst of it until I tried it on something else. Of course although I have "access" to two versions, only one of them is... legal, and stuff. I don't have any moral issues with that since the Switch version is 230% the price of the PC version despite being much inferior, and I paid for it, so I think I'm entitled to feel entitled to play the game decently. Or something.

Hey man, you don't have to justify yourself to me. Don't you live in Brazil? Prices are crazy for video game stuff down there. Wouldn't blame you if you pirated everything. In general, my feelings on the subject are as follows:

I'm not sure what that icon is supposed to mean, but sure, whatever I guess. It's just, I made a thread on piracy lately and that wasn't exactly the least controversial thing ever, and all. Video game prices are pretty steep here, but it's not so much that games are too expensive as much as it is that the dollar is too expensive (has been R$4 for a while), and our economy is messed up big time. It's the age of digital games and whatnot... I paid $37 for the game, on the American eShop, so technically I'm paying the same as anyone over there, but when that's translated to R$157 it's a lot of money, yeah.

Either way, I just booted the game up again on Switch to see if it's any decent in hindsight, and I'm back on the "gonna play this on Switch" mindset. It's really not that bad, I'm having fun. At this rate, I'll end up finishing the game on both platforms simultaneously lol.

It's the logo for the Pirate Party. Check 'em out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_Party They're pretty awesome all around, but they aren't called the Pirate Party for nothing.

Yeah Switch version sounds bad.
They need to put in more work on it.

Input lag, slower loading/stutter, half fps (30fps instead of 60), graphics are downscaled (textures are differnt, effects are missing ect).

Game plays much better on a ps4,xb1,pc.

Watched a number of reviews and I'll definitely get this for the PS4 instead of the Switch.
