Forums - Gaming Discussion - Take a video game company you think is failing and steer them in the right direction.

1. Steer Sony into stop targeting and censoring Japanese games.
2. Steer every Japanese video company to ignore the modern standards of (western) society and don't change or censor anything for them.

Konami: make games again

EA: stop making games

Disney: give Star Wars license to someone else, maybe Square or Bandai

Bethesda: Fire Todd Howard, scrap the Creation engine and use id tech instead, license out id tech to others, purchase Obsidian and inXile from Microsoft and let them make a Fallout game, and for the love of god please STOP RELEASING GAMES BEFORE THEY ARE READY

Ubisoft - first of all I would change the way how they make games - no more design by committee which produces soulless and repetitive crap they've been churning out for so long. Then I'd put to good use their quite good open-world engines:

- GTA-esque action-adventure set in late 60s or early 70s in Europe, inspired by Italian Job (obligatory name of main protagonist is, of course, Myco Caine), with some spy things going on in parallel - London, Paris, Geneva, Monte Carlo, cool period soundtrack, fast cars and deadly Russian double agent Natasha.

- Open world action-adventure (à la RDR) or action-RPG (à la TW3) set in medieval world (fantasy or otherwise) - e.g. they've been sitting on Might & Magic IP for ages and doing nothing good with it, and if Witcher 3 is an indicator, fleshed out medieval open-world with good story is what lot of people would love to play.

- new IP (AC might work, but that IP has lot of baggage) set in Atlantis, in Richat structure (it is a stretch, but very plausible location)

Nintendo :

1. Stop screwing around with the formula of Paper Mario, go back to what made the series great.

2. Focus on 3D mario games, they are the "core" of nintendo. Make a new Super Mario Oddessey (2).

3. Remaster Super Mario Galaxy I + II and release those on the switch

4. New Captain Toad - Treasure Tracker game, its small & cheap and good fun.

5. Make sure a new Mario Kart (9th) is ready by end of Switch gen, release on both Switch and next gen console.

Who wouldn't like a world where every Nintendo game is a Mario game?

I would dislike.

We did live in a world where Nintendo seemed to make nothing but Mario. 2011-2013 Nintendo.

We got 2 NSMB games within 4 months of each other + Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Luigi's Mansion 2, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Party Island Tour, and Super Mario 3D World. While I loved Luigi's Mansion 2, immensely enjoyed 3D World, and liked 3D Land and Mario Kart 7... That was WAY too much Mario, especially with the "New" 2D games. Jesus Christ.

1. After Gears 5: Dark Phoenix. Reboot the series with a prequel trilogy based on Marcus and Dom
2. Halo Spinoff. Something like Colonial Marines meets ODST
3. Fable reboot.
4. Ryse sequel with a different setting. Vikings or Templars maybe.
5. Perfect Dark 3rd person reboot

....I'd comment, but frankly the only major company I think about enough (Nintendo and the overarching companies) I actually like. Yes, even Game Freak. Oh I have things I'd do in office they aren't doing now: I'd probably go hunt down fired, departed, or disgruntled creators of games from other companies and tell them 'I'll pay you to have your own studios, though prove yourself first'.

For example if I had a studio led by some former Assassins Creed guy, they'd prove themselves with a Sheikah themed game with Assassins Creed flavor. Or if I had a former FIFA person of some renown, I'd have them make a Nintendo franchise sports game. Those go well, then they can make whatever they more individually want to make mixed with successors to the above if wanted (perhaps they want to make a game about Sasquatch armies destroying everything in Alabama or something).

I would probably do things to expand Game Freak and take them off their current schedule (I'd add a year or two to each generation and have side studios make Pokemon games to keep the generations going), but I am not going to be that weirdo who wants to give their stuff to Bethesda.

Finally I would probably find a way to buy some studios, and then in a press conference about it I would state quite publicaly 'we are buying this studio so only our fans can play their games going forward'. Honesty is the best policy after all.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

The only one I can really think of is Sega needs to get the Yakuza team's and Atlus' butts in order. Sega admitted themselves they need to make all their games multiplat because of declining profits. Well so far I'm not seeing this with the Yakuza team and Atlus. They need to get them to make their games everywhere. Yakuza, Judgement, Persona 5R, SMT 5, Catherine FB, etc. all need to be on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo. They are limiting themselves and the player base. You cannot expand your fan base if you don't expand the reach of your games.

They have been making more profits on Yakuza and Persona than ever in the past.

Basically when I buy a japanese game I want a japanese game, so JRPG be JRPG, Yakuza be strange and cozy, etc. I don't want western games made in Japan.
