The restrictiveness I meant was for the consumer, not the developer. Which was the whole point of my argument. A prettier game on a console is useless because it's on a console and as such robs me of all my freedoms I've come accustomed to. Of course developers are also massively restricted in both content and fidelity.

A pretty game on console that runs at 30fps is useless.

A pretty game on console that forces me to use a controller for a shooter is useless.

A pretty game on console that restricts me from upgrading my platform to achieve greater fidelity is useless.

And let's not forget that 99% of games on console look better on PC. The exclusive AAA games that use the hardware to its fullest extent make up only a tiny portion of the whole offering. I can live with "missing out" on 1% of games. There are a couple of games I would've loved to play or actually have tried to play but it's simply not fun playing with something that's utterly mutilated by its hardware and platform.

The reality is that everybody is targeting console market because them moneyz and all ur ultra rigs, without mods, would be generally useless. Everybody remembers the famous " it's PC only nobody cares"line.Well, Xbox allows M+K, also there are mid gen upgrades, so only this 30FPS point stands, but still, with latest Samsung Game Motion Plus mode, there will be a great help for it.

Basically this is the answer why there is no PC AAA exclusives besides niche genres and indies. There is no need.

What is a fun game for you is your thing, Sony's games are scoring GoTy and got universal praise for their graphics/tech.

The discounts on PC vs console are still different. Just looking at only one console type deal, and trying to compare it to the myriad out there on PC, is frankly not the same. "Steam tax" hasn't actually pushed prices up at all either. I go to GoG and see prices of new games, that can also be on Steam and other outlets, and still cost the same, so it's not solely due to just "steam tax". YOu could also use that argument for higher prices of console games, being solely attributed to "Sony/MS/Nintendo tax". Look at Skyrim when it came out on Switch, they wanted a practical £55-60 for it, and meanwhile, I got SSE on PC for free, while console folk had to pay for their copy of SSE.

No, you're guessing wrong, for simply poking your head into a game you clearly don't give two shits about and offering a steam hot take on it, as well as anyone else on this forum that has also done the same before. Yes it will be baseless mate, simple as. You're not going to change your attitude and instead run your mouth, so get ready to be called out for it, and then some, because I will be there for when that happens.

Nah, you've known kero for some time now. You try to live up to your title, your forum name and I'm going to be honest, it's pretty sad.

Yes, the discounts are different on both platforms, because PC is mostly digital, so no problem to link them, meanwhile on consoles there are also retail games discounts, or 2nd hand offerings, this makes it kinda impossible to direct comparisions, simply because your best discount may be a Russian shop offering.

By Steam tax I meant eshop's fee on every sold game, this model is reasonable on console market, but on PC, not feeling it. Also it kinda shots at PC as " open" platform, because there are mandatory clients.

Star Citizen? So far, they got Crytek's lawsuit,pay2win controversy, lmao things like monetized stream ( srsly?),TBA release date, not to even mention Waporware 2016 award. I said the game has its own problems and next gens may arrive earlier than this, both points stand.

Kero? Maybe u mean kerotan? I guess I saw him here like a year ago.

Well, Xbox allows M+K...

For less than 20 games so far: https://www.windowscentral.com/list-xbox-one-mouse-and-keyboard-games

XBO has over 2000 games, so over 99% of them have no M+K support.

It is a joke compared to PC games.

This is going to improve only ( although I dont like the idea, because I prefer the model like a chess or mahjong where all players got same device ), also there are MK- like peripherals, even for PS4.

I say this because PC exclusives seem to not exist ? We now games that can probably run on a potato pc like league of legends and age of empire . I and many people dont know what's the point of all that power except to run 3rd party games to 4k that are intended for 900p xbox one ? If only half life 3 was made and made for ground up for native 8k power pc instead of a port (if they ever make hl3)

I Say this where's the AAA exclusive PC games ? Microsoft don't count there games are on xbox too ? D:

Try Star Citizen, Total War, Civilization, Age of Wonders, Shroud of the Avatar, Anno, Divinity, pretty much everything from Paradox Interactive...

There are actually tons of PC exclusive AAA games every year. Strategy games and Simulations are often PC exclusive since steering them with a gamepad is generally a pain in the butt at best.

First Person Shooters used to be almost exclusive to PC, too, since Mouse+Keyboard trumps everything you can do with a gamepad in terms of accuracy and speed in those titles (hence why there's no crossplay with PC in most of these titles - PC players rek consoleros way too easily). Western RPGs also took very long to jump on the consoles bandwagon.

There are entire genre's of games that are missing on console, so how can it be a console substitute?

Yes. And the ones worth mentioning (see Thread Title!) you can count on one hand.

Otherwise id ve plenty to play, right? Right.

They are all worth mentioning.
Just because you may not like those Genre's specifically, doesn't mean they aren't valid.

The PC is an absolutely massive platform. I wouldn't be so eager to discount it.

The denial towards the doubtless biggest gaming platform (maybe mobile gets there) on this site is unreal. You all may not like gaming on PC, that doesn't change the fact it is pretty important.

Not sure what you're even arguing for. The PC market is quite healthy. Games don't exist because of consoles, consoles exist because of games. That's why PC or an equally open platform will always be popular as long as games exist. I named several reasons why people would prefer PC over consoles and the feeble attempts of consoles to close the technology gap won't change anything about it. Consoles will never deliver the same experience as PC because the platform holders don't want it to do that, which is why all of these attempts to deliver slightly more power and freedom are only half assed.

Maybe there is a problem if even the most critically acclaimed games cannot sway PC fans to play on console. Maybe it's because consoles can't even clear the lowest of lowest bar for choice in gaming. The restrictiveness of consoles is basically what fuels the PC market. And as long as console makers are assholes, PC will be healthy and alive.

And there are a lot more reasons.

I personally prefer the 16:9 aspect of games, but there are many people who prefer ultrawide aspects (21:9 or 32:9) or even triple-monitor setups for surround gaming. The only console game which supports proper 21:9 (as far as I know) is the Ratchet & Clank Remake. The Order still has 16:9 output with black bars.

For the last decade I loved to play a lot of PC games in stereoscopic 3D. Unfortunately that will end when I have to update my Nvidia drivers for a new game which needs the newest drivers.

PC market is big. As a platform, maybe its biggest disadvantages are the incredibly wide variety of HW and SW configs, with some possible incompatibilities, and unpredictable sales for any SW that isn't strictly necessary, like the OS, while some of its great advantages OTOH are great freedom in development, no platform royalties, that help keeping dev costs lower, great scalability, with the upwards one allowing devs to easier show the best they can do, and a wide range of BC, spanning with little or no effort several generations by default and often just requiring to modify setup files and update or remove DRM (if present) to extend BC to even older games, just like Steam and GOG routinely do.
