"salty"? Seriously? Lmao you think i'm salty about this game? Hahahahahaha. gotta love your delusional thinking. I don't give any crap about this thing, the only game in ps1 era that i care about is Xenogears. That game is league ahead of FFVII in term of everything outside graphic and budget. "Salty", huh? LOL

So why are you here ?

When I don't care about something I don't check. For example I don't care about Nintendo games so I don't check anything about it. Yet you are here with your salty attitude (yes look at your message). Go away instead of checking FFVII news. Save some tears for the moment that PS4 will be above Wii this year. It will be harsh again for you.

Hahaha i don't care so i didn't even read many comments here or checking any important information about this game, but because the question MP4 or this game will come out first, so i just want to give you fans interesting news about this game for fun. My tears if happen will be for a much better game, not this unfinished thing. Love your delusion dream about me. At worst, i'd rather have the original FFVII (still not even close to Xenogears) than this incomplete game. Next 5 years will be interesting to see how many parts this game will have, heh. PS4 will be above Wii? And? You will have more food for your family thank to it? Your job suddenly become better? Or you can cure any disease by that news? Unless Sony release a new handheld, i don't care.

To go back to our other exchange from the other thread from earlier this week, basically FFVIIR has a hybrid action/turn-based combat system instead of a pure action-based system, right? If so, I suppose I can get behind it. It is good that we can control each character instead of only getting to control Cloud while the rest are controlled by AI.

The key factor is it feel like Final Fantasy 7, to reassure fans that while we are updating the game, in graphics and how the controls work, the gameplay and story remains familiar. I really do wonder why SquEnix seem so a shamed of the ATB in it's original form, used on FF4-9, X-2 with variations in 12 and 13? The ATB was a natural and good evolution of standard turn based combat for FF, I don't think button mashing is.

The evolution of the Resident Evil gameplay from tank controls to over the shoulder seemed to be one that was beneficial for the series which is why their remakes are of that ilk but I'm not sure the First Person gameplay from RE7 will hold up in the long run, RE8 will probably go back to over the shoulder. Meanwhile, Street Fighter's attempts at 3D models and environment gaming didn't work as well with EX series, while being popular, never really established itself like the main series/style wanted but it paved the way for SF 4 and 5 2D fighter with 3D character models as graphics had caught up with gameplay ideals, what made SF, SF.

I want an FF game that looks like this or FF15 but played like FF6-9. My biggest fear with FF15, which I didn't buy because of it, was that SquEnix took a spin-off with KH gameplay, turned it into a FF full game and then when it did well (and it would because it has FF in the name) think that the controls it had are what people wanted. That this was the future of FF gameplay, when in reality there is nothing wrong with the ATB arena battles. The only issue SquEnix aren't making them anymore. They seem to be scared to, like the ATB is niche or something, but it's not, they forget that the ATB gameplay is what made the FF series, along with great stories and characters. In the end, the gameplay needs to be on point for people to remain invested in playing the game and the ATB was that factor, keeping it keeps it unique, else it's just another hack n slash adventure game like everything else is nowadays.

...little rant over. I hope FF 16 returns to actual ATB. Not everything needs to be open world action game. How boring will the industry be if everything is the same?

Hmm, pie.

I suggest you watch this. The original FF VII is Max’s all-time favourite game. The video is quite lengthy but informative. And coming from someone who likes the original as much as he does, it should tell you a lot about how much Square is taking this remake seriously while keeping the fans of the original in mind.

It certainly does, when you are making comparision with games that are now based on lots of evolutions that came with learning, time and technology improvements.

It was fine back then.

I would agree if the game was overly plagued with it, but it isn't, that's just how it is.

I only properly played FF7 in 2015, and did not suffer with any of that. But of course, my favorite game in a JRPG from the very same era, so I'm really used to that kind of stuff since... well, always.

I don't think there is ever a time when I got overly frustrated with random encounters. I mean I recently played the first few missions on FF7 and think I had all of 6 or 7 random encounters. The expected for standard leveling.

My issue with modern JRPG or no random encounter games is that because it's not random you are sometimes forced to get into encounters to level, as in reality, you can just walk around the enemy and not encounter them. FF12 and 13 has this issue. 2There is a big enemy there, I'll just avoid it and go for that little one instead." Yet in FF7 in the ice caverns, that one area were Malboro spawn, I feared one popping up. Is it going to be that when you get to that section, you'll just see the malboro and just walk around it?

Hmm, pie.

He could also play the recent port of it and turn random encounters off.

I was nervous about this game for a while now, but after seeing this presentation I feel a lot better about it.  Looks great.

Gotta admit.  I was impressed when I heard that this game is coming on 2 Blu-Ray discs.  That is a lot of content.  I remember the first time I was impressed by a game with multiple discs.  It was called "Final Fantasy VII".  One of the biggest appeals of the original game was just how much content it had.  Looks like they are doing it right again by having 2 Blu-Ray discs worth of content.  All of this sounds very good to me.  I'm a lot more hopeful about this game now.

Or go play LoD and enjoy superior randomness!

Lol.  Hey, I'm right with you on the LoD remake.  I only really played about 45 mins or so of the game (never owned a copy myself), but I had fun while I did play it.  The visuals were also impressive for the time.

Both styles have their strenghts and weakness.

Random encounters can get annoying. Want to save and finish your gaming session quickly? Get past 5 random encounters first to get to the checkpoint.

In the other hand you can get underlevelled for an important fight and have to keep making enemies spawn instead of just running around to get into battles.

I love FF9 and love FF12, almost the same, for instance.

Indeed but the leveling for 12 to me, although I adore the game, is off as it felt (to me early on when playing) that you have to go out of your way to kill enemies to make sure you are leveling correctly when a random battle scenario you are usually leveling correctly because in a way, it's controlled.

Eitherway, both were better than FF13, which had a small linear area and there was no way of avoiding the enemy you were coming up against but you could see it anyway.

Hmm, pie.

I like that games have evolved from old turn based mechanics. I only go back to that if the game is really a masterpiece or short.

I love, for example, Xenoblade battle system and I love what I see on this game too.

God bless You.
