Forums - Sony Discussion - Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will release Worldwide March 3 2020; New Trailer!

  • Episodic/Parts are the same thing here, it's still taking a game that was 1 game and splitting it up.
  • This isn't like other trilogies where it's one game which through success spawns 2 sequels of varying success
  • Episodic games are usually 1 story over many parts to form a complete game. This is the same, 1 story over many parts to form a complete game.

Think of God of War. Its story has been going on for 13 years.

  • FF7 was one game with many things the development team didn't get to include in the original product. What we found out 20 years later is the original was the bare-bones minimal. There is eight sectors in Midgar, and we barely went through one slum, and one sector.
  • It was successful enough to spawn a movie, anime, 2 prequel games, and a sequel Dirge of Cerberus.
  • This isn't the same though, if it was.. Part one of the Remake would be a very short game. They said it won't be a 1 to 1 copy.

I think Square Enix do have to explain it better, good thing they have like 9 months to release more info before it release.

Again, FFVIIR won't have the full story of FFVII on ps1, right?

At this point I consider FFVII on PS1 to be a rough draft.

Everybody understands that.  The concern is over how much content is being added and how well it will integrate.  As an example 40 hours of play just in Midgar, that has me curious if not concerned.  Midgar was dark and dirty, intentionally of course, I don't know how they will keep it interesting for 40 hours.  And just how much story has to be added?  How many cut scenes?  Look, the game could turn out amazing, but there are a series of questions players have.  One of my biggest questions, do my character stats transfer to episode II, III, IV, etc.?  Or do I start over each time?  What happens if the later episodes are on the ps5 while the earlier ones are on the ps4?  I like FFVII, one of my all time favorite titles, I've beaten it at least 10 times.  I just don't get how they are going to take a 40 hour game and turn it into 200 hours.  I just don't.  The universe isn't that big, unless they really re-write a bunch of stuff...

Look at it another way, let us say your favorite movie was getting remade.  And the remake took the length of the movie and made it 400% longer..  wouldn't you have so many questions?

Edit

Also, just my opinion, but the movie was ****ing awful and so was Dirge of Cerberus.

So FFVII was a poor incomplete product with unfinished story you mean? So it was a scam, a cash grab, damn Square

As awful as you may find them, they will probably mentioned at some point in the new remake.

Sequels? They haven't happened yet. Pointless to mention them.

Hmm, pie.
