This will definitely pass the 2 million mark, marking the amazing growth of the franchise and setting up for a sequel soon I hope. A port of Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenoblade Chronicles X would be very nice right about now.

Where did you get this picture of ASTRAL CHAIN ?

I googled for some Astral Chain pics and just happened to come across it on Imgur.

It's a great game. 2 million is on lock at this point. I do hope we get another Xenoblade Chronicles on Switch. Considering that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 came out around the beginning of the Switch's lifecycle, there's still plenty of time.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

The way the series is growing is amazing To think people had to beg Nintendo to get the first game localized in North America.

Bravo.

Now I just hope Nintendo and Monolith do not use these figures to determine the future direction of the franchise. XC2 was easily the low point of the series.

While I don'tshare your feelings on XC2, I wouldn't worry much.  XC1 far outperformed Nintendo's expectations yet XCX experimented a lot.  And XC2's success didn't prevent making a number of changes to Torna in all areas.  Takahashi experiments game to game and Nintendo seems to welcome it.

One thing that seems destined to change for the better is their character design inconsistencies.  Monolith Soft is looking to actually bring on a dedicated character design artist that will be their internal character designer going forward.  So hopefully no more outsourcing, which will result in a lot mlre consistency game to game and even within each game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a great game, so the sales are well-deserved. I hope Monolith Soft continues its great run of great games, whether it be the next Xenoblade or something else Xeno-related. Hope it reaches that 2 million mark.

I seriously loved the story and visuals from that game. I had already gotten used to the gameplay mechanics from the first two, so I was used to it by then and didn't have to go through the learning curve again. I cannot wait for whatever they make next in the series!

Also, I'm curious how much it cost them to make and how many they needed to sell to make a profit?

Healthy number

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Excellent news! Easily my favorite Xeno game and one of my favorite JRPGs ever. Hopefully future games take note of what this game did well and keep growing the franchise. Would also like to see more games in this direct universe, but I'd be content with more connections in the vein we've already seen.

Also hope they don't forget to make a Mythra cooking spinoff for me.

To think that this series wouldn't exist anymore if it weren't for Operation Rainfall. Sure has come along way over the last decade.
