A 2D sidescroller? I don't know, you'd think that after all the feedback and all the finished assets, they could make a real sequel to Yooka Layle and show a decent improvement over the original. This looks more like a spinoff than a sequel.
Shame, I thought this would be a proper sequel. Really liked the game.

Considering the first game wasn't well received, I guess they have to change it up and maybe they will find success in the side scroller genre.
Really enjoyed the first game, wish this was a proper sequel not a 2d platformer. But I'll probably play it still.
I'm looking forward to it, Playtonic hace made no secret that they wouldn't go straight into a proper sequel to Yooka Laylee. They want to broaden their brand before going for Tooka Laylee. I'm glad they will be trying their hand at other genres since I always liked how varied Rare used to be.
Physical versions confirmed, including for Switch: https://www.playtonicgames.com/new-game-yooka-laylee-and-the-impossible-lair/
I am really quite keen for this; for all its imperfections I enjoyed the first Yooka Laylee, and this looks like a fun spinoff.
Plus new David Wise music is always welcome.
Day 1 for moi.

I enjoyed it, but I think a significant part of that was due to me having grown up with Banjo Kazooie/Tooie. The camera has seen some improvements since it came out. I never had an issue with the controls; they're nowhere near as tight as, say, Mario Odyssey, but few games are.
I'd say if you're still able to enjoy a game like the original Banjo Kazooie today, you'll probably enjoy Yooka Laylee. It feels very much like a 3D platformer of the N64 era, just with modern graphics.
