Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Official Nintendo E3 2019 Thread!

Seeing the treehouse segment, Luigi Mansion would make for an excellent Theme Park attraction

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

It's enough time.  BotW's long dev time was mostly due to problems with the engine and if they have that covered while reusing a lot of its assets for a sequel, then holiday 2020 isn't unreasonable.

It's not impossible. But they don't even have a name, what they showed today screams early development to me. I'd expect it holiday 2021. Even if they do announce it for Holiday 2020 I expect them to delay it.

I think you are seriously underestimating that they have the engine done already.

They have already been working on this game for a couple years, with a completed engine. A pretty perfect engine I would like to say. I mean there are like zero bugs in that massive game for how much they did in it.

Then look at Mario Odyssey. That was shown and released insanely close to its first unveil. What makes you think BotW2 will take so long?

Oh yeah, Retro was a no show.

Can we all agree that Retros game is dead?

Using the same engine (or an updated version of it) and reusing assets makes a huge difference, 2020 would be 3 years after release of the prior game and that game was only delayed to become multiplatform to launch with Switch so they would have been working on it before BOTW's release so it's possibly 4 years after the Wii U version was complete as the Switch version according to Aonuma was done in 6 months after the E3 showcasing.

Witcher 3 looked pretty downgraded to me in the seconds of gameplay we got.

Did you miss the part earlier this year on them taken over MP4 after it was scrapped and started over? Were you really expecting MP$ to be present?

Yep. Killed off so they could try to salvage what was left of Prime 4. Retro is a benchwarmer studio now.

No, i dont mean MP4.

I meant the game that they must have been developing before Metroid

After seeing Dragon Quest Hero's gameplay he actually looks fun and I'm excited to try him out, I was worried he'd be a little too bland. Banjo is pretty hype, even though I was never fan of the series/character it's nice seeing him finally in smash. Still holding out for Crash and Sora!

I really wanted them to announce a Metroid Prime Trilogy port or at least more retro consoles for NSO, kinda disappointing. Also why isn't there any Kingdom Hearts on the Switch yet??? Square Enix plsssssss

All in all it was a really great E3 showing from Nintendo, that BOTW 2 cutscene got me hyped!!

It's likely that became MP4 as a demo was submitted to Nintendo which convinced them to hand MP4 to Retro they would need to redo assets and such in order for it to become an actual Metroid title.
