Possible it always would be, the question is how far you're willing to compromise.

Back in the late 80s and early 90s developers were doing miracles porting arcade stuff to far inferior home consoles. Also more recently, RE2 for the N64 and ROTR in the X360. Where there's a will, there's a way (or rather... where there's money to be made).
