Forums - Gaming Discussion - Rhythm-Based Platforming Games?

I was playing some Rayman Legends again last night and was quickly re-addicted to the music stages. (Especially the 8-bit versions of Dragon Slayer and Grannies World Tour.)

I enjoy lots of rhythm-based games, especially when they're fused with other game genres that I enjoy (like in the rhythm-based dungeon-crawling RPG, Crypt of the NecroDancer, for example). However, the music stages in Rayman Legends seem to be unique in this regard: I've not yet seen any other platforming games that include rhythm-based stages or which are rhythm-based more broadly. I'm looking for more! Are you aware of any other platforming games that include rhythm-based play?

Patapon. It's on PSP but I'm reasonably sure that there is a ps4 remaster. Awesome game.

The name sounds vaguely familiar, but I know I haven't played it before. Will defs check it out!

Took me forever to remember the name but I suggest Sound Shapes. Has levels where the obstacles are timed to the music, some really good tracks included, and the ability to make your own levels as well.

I'm 98% sure this is on PS4, think it was one of the first games I got.

Also, while trying to find that I saw something about a game from the guy who made Limbo in a similar "obstacles move to a beat" platformer. Here's a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VLh-8oI8QV0

140 looks like exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for! Will definitely be playing it this evening!

Gamefreak's Harmoknight might be right up your alley. It is on 3DS and I quite enjoyed it. If you have a 3DS I'd highly recommend it.

Patapon is one of the outstanding games that define the PS-platform better or give the platform more uniqueness in my opinion than for instance Uncharted. Patapon is a game I as a Nintendo-fan envy PS-gamers for.

Yeah. Runner 2 is basically too hard for me, but the synchronisation with the music make all the fails so enjoyable and let me give it another try, and another.

Omg, I'm embarrassed to have forgotten about that game! I'm gonna dig it back out ASAP!

I was going to suggest the Rayman Legends levels lol.

I wish a full game was created around those levels.
