Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft showing 14 first-party games at E3 2019 conference

Where are the Xbox fans? Surprised a thread wasn’t created for this. Thought it would be interesting to compile and predict the list of these games. Of note, they did not specify these were exclusive to XBO, or that they were new games.

Source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.gamespot.com/amp-videos/microsoft-will-have-14-xbox-one-first-party-games-/2300-6449667/

1. Halo 6 — 343i — CONFIRMED

2. Ori ATWOTW — Moon Studios — CONFIRMED/HIGHLY LIKELY

3. GeoW — The Coalition — CONFIRMED/HIGHLY LIKELY

4. Minecraft (update) — Mojang — HIGHLY LIKELY

5. Sea of Thieves (update) — Rare — HIGHLY LIKELY

6. Battletoads — Rare? (or is this being developed by an outside company?) — HIGHLY LIKELY

7. Outer Worlds—Obsidian—HIGHLY LIKELY

8. State of Decay 2 (update) — Undead Labs— LIKELY

9. Turn 10 game — the head of the studio apparently said recently they weren’t currently working on a Forza Motorsport game (source Kinda Funny Games Daily) — LIKELY

10. Fable 4 — Playground Games — LIKELY (Forza Horizon game very unlikely to be at E3)

11. Ninja Theory game teaser — LIKELY

12. Wasteland 3 — inXile — LIKELY

13. Compulsion Games game teaser — POSSIBLE

14. The Initiative game teaser — POSSIBLE

Other possibilities:  Forza Horizon update/DLC; Gears Tactics; Age of Empires IV; MCC PC trailer.

Gears Pop was announced last E3, but I think that’s being developed by a second party studio.

I know a decent amount about MS and its studios, but I’m not an expert, so feel free to make corrections and give your own predictions.

My rough list (Bold the ones I'm absolutely sure about).

  1. Halo Infinite.
  2. Halo MCC - PC/Reach?
  3. Gears 5.
  4. Gears Tactics?
  5. Sea of Thieves Update?
  6. Minecraft Update
  7. Forza Horizon 4 Expansion.
  8. Ninja Theory New IP (Bleeding Edge).
  9. Wasteland 3
  10. The Outer Worlds.
  11. Ori and the Will of the Wisps.
  12. Battletoads
  13. Fable IV?
  14. New XGP IP?

Hoping for one of the unknowns to be an early Fable IV reveal. I'm unsure about MCC, Gears Tactics (May not be at E3), Sea of Thieves Update (They seemed to downplay their E3 participation on one of their streams, I feel like they could just talk about Sea of Thieves in the pre-show or Inside Xbox). Rumour is Age of Empires IV isn't ready to be shown yet.

Regarding your own list, I would say State of Decay 2 won't be there, I doubt they have anything big planned for that. Turn 10 is definitely not going to be showing Forza Motorsport 8 anytime soon, they have only just started developing it. The Initiative is way too early and Compulsion hasn't started on their next game I believe.

Obsidian is 50/50 with them having multiple teams, same case with InXile. Rare's next IP is apparently a way off. Fable is years away also but I'd still prefer if they just revealed it already since it's been massively leaked and it would be a nice major announcement.

Eh, Minecraft could be two, Minecraft & Minecraft Dungeons.

Wait, but wasn´t their last game released in 2017? Why would they have started developing the new one just recently?  And didn´t all Motorsports games have a two years gap between them?  I mean, I know it has been said that there wouldnt be any Forza for this year but still, that means that next year they will already be one year late on their usual schedule.

Apparently so, after Forza Motorsport 7 they spent time overhauling/updating their engine and supporting FM7, they're taking a similar approach to Sea of Thieves where they involve the community in the development process and only recently have started developing it. It makes me question if FM8 will even make 2020 or get replaced by FH5 or another spinoff.

Ok, fair enough.  Thanks for clarifying that for me.

Can't wait to see more of The Outer Worlds.

Also hope to see Fable 4, Age of Empires 4 and whatever The Initiative is working on.

1. Halo Infinite

2. Gears 5

3. Battletoads

4. Forza Horizon 4 Expansion

5. Ori and the Will of the Wisps

6. The Outer Worlds

7. Minecraft Dungeons

8. Age of Empires IV

9. Bleeding Edge (New IP, Ninja Theory)

10. Another new IP

11. Wasteland 3

12. Fable IV (teaser)

13. Crimson Skies (reboot)

14. Viva Pinata

yes those last 2 are pipe dreams but NOTHING STOPS THIS HYPE TRAIN BOIS

I also don't think Microsoft is done with acquiring/creating new studios, so i'm curious if any of these 14 are for example Phil is on stage and says "It is my honor to announce we have acquired [insert studio], and also here's a look at their next game" which would now be an exclusive first party assuming there's no prior deals with other publishers like The Outer Worlds and We Happy Few

Hopefully it turns out really good. Age of Empires IV is what I am really counting on.

Well here is what I believe

1) Halo 6 - 343i
2) Gears 4 - Coalition
3) Ori 2 - Moon Studios
4) Outer Worlds - Obsidian
5) Forza M - Turn 10
6) Forza H - Playground Games
7) State of Decay 3 - Undead Labs
8) Battle Toads - Rare
9) Minecraft Update - Mojang
10) ??? - Inxile
11) ??? - Playground Games 2nds
12) ??? - The Initiative
13) ??? - Compulsion
14) ??? - ???

There could be a possible Fable 4 announcement. A old Rare IP revival (Conker, Banjo Kazooie or Perfect Dark 2)

The Forza Games I believe will be announced for next gen systems. (XB2 Cross gen)

I didn't mention anything about Wastelands, Gears Tactics or Age of Empires 4 as I believe they will be announced at the E3 PC event on MS's stage.

Eh, my hype has been diminished. Seems at least a good amount of the games they'll show are games that are just receiving more content (Forza Horizon 4, Minecraft, Sea of Thieves). Plus it seems they may include stuff like The Outer Worlds and Wasteland 3. Then you have the obvious Gears 5, Ori, Battletoads and Halo Infinite (which I hope we get an actual gameplay demo on Halo). So that really leaves only 5 spots for potential new games? (assuming I'm not forgetting any other MS 1st party games already announced).

Here's to hoping for a new Kameo announcement. If it happens, someone other than Rare would be behind it, kind of like Battletoads. I'd also like to see a JRPG style IP.

MS definitely has some cool IPs that I'd like to see return (Conker is at the top of my list) but I've learned not to get too excited about announcements. Sometimes they turn out great. Sometimes they end up sucking. Some times they don't ever get released.

I'm still hyped for Gears 5, though. I've been replaying Gears 3 and I'm hoping for a return to form.
