In my eyes, have super large pokemon is cool. That just makes the battle feel grander. And spoiler warning for anyone who hasn't read the leak, an addition feature will make the dynomaxxing not become tiring imo. Gamefreak is doing an awesome job at the moment

On the whole I liked it.

The new normal pokemon were awesome, there seems to a huge open area with controllable camera, pokemon in the overworld (while not getting rid of random encounters).

Dynamax is just stupid. How about, just not have a stupid gimmick? It was megas in gen 6, z-moves in gen 7 and this now.

Megas were at least nice.

We got new temporary evolutions (could be definitive, give'em numbers!) and with them some really cool designs.

Also Charizard was finally able to become a dragon-type, which was so damn long overdue haha.

Its was an instant win button that broke the game. In the game it was introduced, it was poorly implemented, as only 3 opponents you face in the entire campaign use megas. Not even the elite 4 used em.

It was used as gen 1 pandering, instead of giving pokemon who were overlooked and often out of the spotlight. Speaking of that, Banette deserved a full evolution, not a temporary super saiyan form.

Not a single gen 6 pokemon got a mega, except a damn mythical.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

BTW, being a more casual player makes it weird when I hear so much negativity from some for the inclusion of a gimmick like Dynamax, that imo doesn't look bad at all, I'd say some kind of pace breaker like those are necessary if you don't want your general experience to get dull fast since they can only go so far with the actual turn based formula.

Also if this means I can "piss off" a certain raccoon with my sig then I'm all for it :P

I'm sorry to say that your signature never achieved its intended purpose.

As for the "pace breaker" argument, honestly, I disagree quite a lot there. There were 5 generations of Pokémon games without that sort of thing, and they were all enjoyable (well, gen 4 not so much) because the standard Pokémon formula is just fun and it doesn't get stale too easily. I can understand how, after 15 years of it, people were finally starting to get tired, and then Mega Evolution was the perfect twist to the formula, that added a whole new layer to Pokémon battles and was just a very cool thing in general with the new designs and all. Everyone digged it, and wanted - no, expected - it to keep going.

Comparatively, Z-Moves and Dynamax are incredibly shallow and feel forced. They add nothing interesting to the franchise or its gameplay, and are, as you put it yourself, pace breakers. Shoehorning a lazy and annoying gimmick in several portions of the game that could easily do without them only serves that purpose, to break the pace, break the immersion, break the fun. It's lame, and it's something all of these Shigeru Ohmori games have excelled at doing: forcing unwanted content onto the player. It was the forced legendary encounters and stupid lore in OR/AS; the everything in Sun/Moon; and now it's Dynamax, and hopefully only Dynamax. These things just take me right out of the adventure and have me instead questioning their reason for existing. But as I've said before, this time I was already expecting it, so I'm not as annoyed as I could've been.

Hooray for 13,000.

First, I do agree with the first paragraph.

Though ... how can you already judge the impact and depth of a mechanic that we've only just seen yesterday + nobody has even touched yet ? As for Z-moves go, yes it is quite gimmicky and overly not balanced for an almost 1-shot kill move but the implementation of the Dynamax feature is not similar enough with it's countepart to warrant such early judgement.

Pokemon’s own Vincent Adultman =D

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Everything said, I still don't know if they are in introducing something dumb every gen or just looking for something that works.

- Megas were awesome, but they were also broken and miss handled in gen 6. Besides that, making megas for each pokemon would be a lot of work.
- Z-moves also had design problems, besides the dumb animation. Any attack with a base power of 70-75 became almost an hyper beam with a z-move, without the recharge turn and always hit, even going through protect. And that's for weak attacks, so they were kinda broken. On the other hand, because they were 1-off, if the opponent swaped to something that had resisitance to it, it was really lame to lose it that way.

Dynamax does seem like a match between something that could be easily applied to every pokemon, can't be easily denied since it lasts for 3 turns, but it is also not permanent for the whole battle, so the opponent can just stall with protect/dig/fly. And also gives something for players to do in group.

But yea, it looks dumb.

If Dynamax can be used on trainers/gym leaders, than this might be the best addition ever.

If it's just Pokemon, then eh.

I really hope those rumours of the Galon forms are real, but I feel like they would have shown at least a couple off if they were..
