Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo E3 Predictions/Wishlist

We're about 3 weeks away from E3, and Nintendo so far is set to have a jam-packed 2019. With the Switch now on its 3rd year, and the 3DS finally retired, this will be the E3 for Nintendo to show how serious it they are with the Switch and its success. The interesting thing this year, is that Nintendo isn't dedicating the show to one particular game like the past few years, so we'll probably see a lot of stuff coming from them this year. Here's my predictions/wish-list for the Switch at E3 this year.

Smash Bros.

Ultimate's 2nd Challenger Pack is revealed during the Smash Bros. Invitational. Will be out by July.

Microsoft

A lot of rumors have been pointing to this, and I think it'll eventually come true. At Microsoft's Press Conference, Nintendo makes a surprise appearance, announcing Xbox App for Nintendo Switch. Allowing you to access all your Xbox Live data, and stream your Xbox One games to the Switch. That's not all, the original Halo Trilogy and Ori and the Blind Forest are both coming to Nintendo Switch courtesy of THQ Nordic.

Nintendo Direct

Now to the meat of the showing.

  • Starts off with trailer for Pokemon Sword and Shield. Releases September 20th

  • New IP reveal from 3D Mario team at EPD, due out this Fall

  • Bill Trinen comes on to talk about Switch and how it's been bringing people together

  • Fire Emblem: Three Houses Final Trailer

  • Marvel UA3 Final Trailer

  • Zelda: Link's Awakening, releases November 15th, Cadence of Hyrule out now

  • Luigi's Mansion: Haunted Inn, Releases October 25th

  • Animal Crossing: Road Trip, releases this holiday

  • New Party Game IP from 1-2 Switch team, releases August 9th

  • Daemon X Machina releases September 6th

  • Bill comes back to discuss indie games and third party support

  • Big 3rd party game reveal

  • Highlight reel of 3rd party games coming to Switch

  • Shinya Takahashi comes in to discuss updates on Bayo 2 and Metroid Prime 4. Bayonetta should be out sometime next year, Metroid Prime 4 is still early in development, but promises it'll be worth the wait. To hold you over, Metroid Prime Trilogy HD releases August 30th

  • Astral Chain final trailer, Joy-Con Controls shown

  • Retro Studios long awaited game, coming 2020

  • Grand Finale, ARMS: Burst, the sequel to the original ARMS, coming 2020

Nintendo Treehouse Live

This happens every year, and it always ends badly.

I have no expectations, and I don't think you should either

Wow that was an impressive detailed op. You sure you are not a leaker?

Hope to see decent amount of Animal Crossing but hope they split it up more than last year which was mainly Smash.

My goodness the detail in the op looks like a leak rather than predictions, nice job!

Ok here are my predictions, I tried to temper them because I always end up disappointed and I've learned I just shouldn't have expectations from a company of which I buy products from, but here is my attempt at a realistic list:

-Animal Crossing Switch is shown, with a detailed trailer highlighting the expansive town capabilities, planned for a November release date.

-Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 begins the Switch highlights segment, given a one-minute trailer with a reminder of the impending release.

-Pokemon Sword & Shield coverage, longer than most games but still fairly short compared to the non-Gamefreak Nintendo exclusives.

-Mario Maker 2 is shown for a short 30 second trailer, reminder of the release date.

-Rhythm Heaven Switch announced, small Eshop release, Late 2019/Early 2020 release date.

-Daemon X Machina developer feedback video, short trailer + reminder of release date.

-Fire Emblem: Three Houses final trailer, new vocal track used + reminder of release date and special nod to the collector's edition.

-Mario Odyssey mode for Mario Maker; Cappy can be used to jump farther gaps.

-2nd Smash character announced, Erdrick from Dragon Age. More is shown than the initial Joker reveal, but more information will be released at a later time.

-Reggae comes out on stage for a final nod goodbye.

-Mario Odyssey gets an Isle Delfino expansion, because after two years why not.

-Star Fox X Zero, a collaboration between the F-Zero and Star Fox universes in this ultimate racing game made by Retro studios.

-Pikmin 4 reveal, coming Spring 2020.

-Hideki Kamiya joins the direct to give a special reveal of Bayonetta 3; Bayonetta 3 is cancelled and restarting development.

-Fire Emblem: Three Spouses, an expansion pack that allows you to unite all three kingdoms in marriage. Making them your pupils for which you can study extensively. $40.

-An indie highlight reel showcasing all the amazing games that Nintendo Switch has in-store and coming up.

-Astral Chain trailer.

-Luigi's Mansion 3 ends the show,

Last year's Nintendo E3 was mediocre and not really worth watching, just recap the announcements off some article.

They disguised a smash direct as a regular direct. Hopefully they wont do that this year.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

What I want to see the most (and they will most probably show it): Link's Awakening trailer/info, Pokemon Sword/Shield trailer/info, Astral Chain trailer/info, Luigi's Mansion 3 trailer/info. Also, I'm curious about Fire Emblem Three Houses.

Wet dreams: Monolith Soft's high fantasy project reveal, Paper Mario in the vein of TTYD announcement, Kid Icarus Uprising 2 announcement. If they don't show this I won't be super disappointed or anything because I know they're not realistic, but nothing wrong with dreaming :P

nnnnnn this sent me

We haven't seen anything from Town recently. I wouldn't be surprised to see this at E3.

A bold prediction of mine:

Town will be free to play for Nintendo Switch Online users, with additional paid content for people (i.e. outfits, weapons, etc)

I really don't remember much about the game from it's initial reveal, other than it's a game based on a person you control and you build up a town and defend it from invaders. If it's as simple as that, it might just be free to play. Plus, if memory serves me, it's developed by Game Freak? It might be a good way for them to experiment with games outside of Pokemon.

My one predicition, Nintendo doesn't see E3 as the place to make big announcements anymore, the only new game announcement we will get is something small
