Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Interactive Launches Unit to Adapt Games for Film, TV

TLoU and Uncharted should be obvious shoe-ins

Greanowait...

Games to movie? Now that sucks. Besides my disdain for Film&TV of this decade, adapations of games are never good. Except for Mortal Kombat

Hunting Season is done...

Considering their games have become so cinematic that theyre basically movies already, this feels like it was inevitabl

Sounds good :

Sony have one of major hollywood studios why they need new unit under SIE

So they are trying to strenghten their movie division with their game division? As logic as this sounds, I'm not sure this will work, considering they would have to shrink so much material and content into a couple of hours (videogames are notoriously difficult to adapt into films, for some reason), not to mention Sony Pictures has had a decent amount of duds under their wing

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Come join The 2018 Obscure Game Monthly Review Thread.

Great idea, now they just need proper execution.

They have so many IP, and so many options. They could make a complete PlayStation Kids Channel for PlayStation Vue, with shows from Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Sly Cooper, Knack, Astro Bot, Ape Escape, and much more. Even stuff like The Adventure of Nathan Drake could make for a great teen aimed programming.

I honestly think games translate better to TV, but they could make some great Movies as well. Day's Gone, Horizon, Infamous, God of War, and The Last of Us could all have some great Movies made around them.

Personally I have felt like Sony has underutilized their IP for a long time. The stuff they have created on the gaming side is great. On the Sony pictures side, TV is actually quite decent, but Movies are terrible. By properly utilizing the incredible IP they have created through SIEWWS, they can vastly improve their position in the Movie and TV market, while helping boost awareness of their IP to a much wider audience

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

KBG29 on PSN&XBL

While this could be cool, I'm sure it will lead to the same in name only shit adaptations we usually get

I see this as a good thing. The fact that Sony went out of their way to create their own Playstation Production "should" mean that they'll take their content more seriously. *fingers cros

It's my fault really. When entering this thread I should have known I would see a comment with this dumb "Sony games are basically movies" comment. Care to elaborate and prove your point on how they are basically movies?
