Saturn finished at ~5.5m as far as I know.

PS3 at ~10.5m and Wii at ~12.7m are the next two consoles in line.

Expected but you always have those conflicted sources that says it goes between 6-10 million for asia not sure which other market shipped so many :s.

The combined HW thing threw me for a second. SW crashing hard.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

I have to correct myself, it was the Nintendo 64 that finished at ~5.5m. I thought the N64 was at 5m and the Saturn at 5.5m, but it's ~5.5m and ~5.8m, respectively. Either way, Switch has long passed the Saturn. I don't think there's a reason to doubt the Saturn number because Japanese hardware tracking has existed during the time Sega's console was on the market.

Oh well then we can have a thread when switch will pass PS3 in Japan :).

Why do they do this? Can we get numbers by week?

I really hope there is either a price cut or a cheaper model coming this year.

Damn! Switch almost flushed the software chart!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Switch seems to be returning to its 2018 levels after greatly outpacing 2018 during the first months of the year.

Signature goes here!

Next stop is the PS3 at 10.3M

SNES - 17.17M
PS1 - 18.85M
NES - 19.35M
PSP - 19.69M
PS2 - 21.98M
3DS - 24.5M
GB - 32.47M
DS - 32.99M

Well, PS3, and possibly even the Wii with stellar sales, will probably fall this year.

After that, we probably will have to wait until 2021-22 for GBA, SNES, PS1, NES, PSP and possibly PS2 to fall to the Switch. Might leg out to overtake the 3DS in the end, though GB and DS seem too far to reach for the Switch.

Congrats to Switch for surpassing the PS4 at a relatively short period of time.

I know people will use the "handheld" aspect as an excuse of why the Switch has been selling so well..But I do wonder..do people take the pricing into consideration? The Switch, whether you want to debate that it is a handheld or not, is priced more closely to a home console than a usual handheld. Even during this generation, the 3DS and the Vita were struggling selling at $250 (Vita even had a $300 3G model). Then you got Switch games (especially the first party games) that are releasing at $50-60, which are home console game prices, and are selling at incredible rates in Japan, let alone the rest of the world. Not to mention the accessories, extra Joy-Cons, and Pro Controller.

Probably just me thinking...I think the "handheld" excuse for Japan is a bit overexaggerated. Not to say its a factor, but the pricing of the Switch does not align with the usual handhelds (especially the ones that have sold well over the many generations).
