Forums - Movies & TV - Can Avengers: Endgame take the #1 spot beating Avatar? ...It just did !!!!

Will Avengers:Endgame beat Avatar?

Yes 68 80.00%

No 17 20.00%

Total:85

In just 12 days Avengers Endgame took down Titantic's #2 spot but do you think it still has enough steam to take out Avatar?

Endgame needs +$600million to take the top spot.

Personally I hope it does, no other movie in the history has accomplished what Marvel has been doing since 2008 and if any movie deserves the #1 spot it should be this.  Would be nice if it can hit the $3B mark but one step at a time hehe

Side note: With all this hype going on I wish Marvel Ultimate Alliances 3 was out now too! T_T

Spoiler!
It is.... inevitable. ;)

I think it is pretty definite that it will at this point, Endgame has more than enough legs left to make 600 million

It actually made more than Infinity War ? Looks like people just bothered to watch the conclusion and that's it ....

Could be more repeat viewing.

I think it will definitely make it to 3B

I hope so, i feel lime the number 1 film should be one that actually has some impact on pop culture. Avatar outside of the 3d gimmick, which is dead now anyway, had no real impact on cinema or pop culture. No one remembers the characters, or quotes the dialogue or talks about it in any way except for its status as the highest grossing film.

Honestly, if we took inflation and ticket prices into account I'd say this ranking would look a whole lot different. Doesn't mean the accomplishment EndGame is setting isn't incredible per say, but when the price of tickets is almost the double from when I saw Avatar back then (Around 8 CAN$) and now you gotta shelve 15 bucks just to go see one ...

I understand what you're saying but that's just a gray area we shouldn't discuss.  Like you can talk about how technically Gone with the Wind should be #1 domestically if we're talking inflation, as well it sold the most tickets if you were to count most all time ticket sales/viewers.  And I remember reading how Avatar made as much as it did because majority of people that watched it bought the 3D ticket (as it was made for 3D) so lots were paying double the ticket price for that.  Again, this is why its just a gray area many don't discuss.

Personally I thought Avatar was a mediocre movie with amazing 3D effects, but with 3D screens and ticket sales drastically declining James Cameron better hope his Avatar 2-6 are really good storywise lol

I'm from Canada too but I dont think our ticket prices have gone up to $15, at least not in my area/city/province? lol  Currently at $12, and $12 CAD is like $4 US loll jk jk

I think the more interesting question is if it can pass Star Wars 7 in the Domestic Box Office. That one is a tighter race.

Yes, without a doubt. It will probably get to 3 billion as well.

The real even battle is against TFA for domestic gross, tho.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

it's going to be close, but i don't think it'll pass it.
