Yeah I've been wondering this too, almost every video game forum I've frequented from here to IGN has been in decline for a while in terms of activity, where is everyone nowadays?

For the one wondering the decline in 2019 is due to people noticing the SW numbers are gone and dont bother returning

This also isn't just a VGC thing, but with the continued growth of social media, the more primitive chat room forums [like this one] were always going to decline some. What happened with Resetera proves that a little change can go a long way. No, not every revitalization will birth something of the magnitude, but it's worth a shot.

So, there's nothing really to "stop" — discussions like these are exactly how upgrades/revitalizations happen in the first place.

You are putting to much faith in the idea of next gen miraculously turning this ship around in light of the fact most members who left did so for site specific reasons. There are several members who left because we stopped tracking software; why would next gen change that? Site design, over moderating, abundance of political threads, ext. Why would next gen help these?

Have we thought about opening a site kickstart where members can donate what they weekly, stack till 1000, and find/pay site designer to design a new site before next gen?

The site is abysmal on mobile still and the ads are beyond crazy still. Not surprised traffic is down.

While I can't divulge on the when or what it will look like, the team here have plans on modernising the front page. I'd say more than that, but @Machina wants us to wait until Talonman returns. Right now the best way to help support the writing staff is to become a Supporter. That is similar to a site Kickstarter that you described. 

I cant be a supporter. Site is not good enough. Just typing now, I have ads pushing the page all over the place. I would not mind throwing money at a brand new 2020 site though. The core of current site is pre 2010. We like bethesda and the gamebryo engine. The kickstart would allow us to dump whenever we can.

Is it? Should be easy enough to disclose then. 

It is, but it's a combination of factors, not just one determinant one. 



My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Quite frankly what is established:
-loss of software numbers
-loss of console wars
-social media
-decade old layout
-mods permaban the wrong people
-no support from owner due to lack interest

Honestly with the decline in traffic it is amazing hes keeping it floating

Everything on that list is wrong with the exception of one. And that one you are "right" on isn't 100% but you are close.
