Interesting to see how Q2 in the last 2 years has grown more than rest quarters making the main differece in the total growth software sales. People always say summer is a slow period but Q2 has become more succesful than Q4 and is becoming closer to Q3 numbers. I guess September thanks to sport games is the culprit, but sport games have been there for years...

Edit: and yeah, Hardware sold to consumers is not updated until March as the rest on that row at the bottom, so maybe you must use an * stating this number is just until end of December 2018 to avoid confussion. Great work on the rest.

What?, they shipped more this Q than last year and they expect 16M next year??? I did not expected that at all. Price cut/revison coming or what? 16M is a lot more than i expected....

Super impressive results, best FY year for Sony.

I agree, 16M seems very high, I was expecting more like 13-14M even factoring in a pricecut. It's gonna be interesting to see what Sony is planning to do to reach that amount - it's already trailing by about a million behind last year.

Not If there is a price cut to $199 that drops around October/Nov.

This is pretty wild...
Given Sony's trackrecord of underestimating their fiscal sales initially, assuming they do exactly 16m, it would hit 113m. Seeing a number like that on the front page of Vghchartz around this time next year would be something.

Also a bit surprised PS4 was up YoY last quarter.

If that "PS4 cost reduction" is an indication of the Super Slim we've heard of, then I wonder how long PS4 will keep selling for at this pace.

And I was not aware that PS4 outshipped Switch.
Which is interesting considering the initial forecast from Sony was 16m, and from Nintendo it was 20m.

Switch FY: 16.95m
PS4 FY: 17.8m

Zhuge did a graph showing the PS4 ahead of the Wii at this point in time in its cycle.

PS4 is looking like it ll beat the Wii to 100m (do so faster).

But yeah slightly surpriseing the PS4 was able to outsell the Switch last FY too, most people wouldnt have thought that would happend.

Theres rumors of a super slim, and people saying that "PS4 hardware cost reduction" forecast, basically proves the rumors true.
New super slim + price cut this year, could still move some units.

Would be too late if that's only coming by then.

^ this.

They ll need to start earlier in the year, if they want to hit that, and hopefully it ll be a permanent price cut.
Also they have alot of Slims in stores, they ll need to sell, before they launch a super slim (if thats happending), so waiting until oct/nov would be silly.

We do know at least complete and official numbers for PS3 too:

https://www.sie.com/en/corporate/data.html

PS3 did officialy 87'4M until March 31, 2017 and its software more than 994'4 as of March 31, 2019.

I want 100M, so that I can hope for 120M XD

Come next march it ll be at ~113M units.
Dont worry about the 120M, its happending... if you want to hope for something do it for 130M-140M.

120M is on lock imo (have a hard time imagineing it doing less).

I wasn't expecting 16m. Wow, I'm being too conservative regarding ps4 performance.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019
