Well, that's the problem, if every company does this, where could you go instead? Also, I did 12 hours a day for a while, but never also 6 days a week(either one or the other, I capped out at 60 hours a week. This is 72 hours a week, and that doesn't even contain any potential overtime) and certainly not over years and without holidays in between. Besides, the Chinese government already is curbing dissent by paying good (compared to in the past, not necessarily to western countries) salaries, so in effect they are already doing what you ask. Which will get problematic if China will go into a recession, especially a prolonged one, as dissent will then go through the roof. |
Not all companies do that though. It is a personal choice if you want to work X hours for Y $$$. If they being exploited then fine, you fight for it, if they are not and it is reasonable, then the person can choose. Some people just love to work in their job. That might be the best part of their life, you do not know.
In reality it is a desktop, they may be happy here. Who are we to dictate what people enjoy doing?
This is no different then an 8hour work day then gaming for 3-4hours at home a day. Still sitting on your arse.
No different to people who spend 3 hours traveling to and from work each day to work. They sitting on their arse.
As for holidays. Again people are wired differently. I do not like holidays that are short and meaningless. I like to bank them up and take 3 months off, make a good time of it. ATM i am not taking any because eventually when I have a kid, I want to take the time off at half pay to spend time with them in their early years. That will bring me more joy then anything else I can think of doing for short term gratification.
