From a story perspective you can play them in any order you'd like (aside from the few direct sequels like FFX-2) since they're all stand alone stories. But it might be weird jumping between one that uses today's technology, to the first FF game on NES.

So I would say play FFT along with the PS1 generation of FF games, which is 7, 8 and 9. And you're done with 9 from my understanding.

Tactics is one of those games that's commonly cited among people's favorites in the entire franchise, and many have it as the best in the series.
Though keep in mind that the GBA game Final Fantasy - Tactics Advanced is not the same game, or of the same caliber. And it's not related to the original in any meaningful way. You can easily skip that one.

In what order are you planning to play these? 1-15?

Since FF 1-2 are not on Steam or Switch, and are really hard to find physically, I may simply skip them. Adding to this possibility is everyone keeps telling me how bad they are (not to mention I hate the way NES games play). I may start with FF3 after I beat 7 (I already beat 9).

FF 1, 2, 3, and 5 are mostly about improving the combat system (although FF2 did it in a sucky way).  If you are primarily interested in story, then you might consider all of them skippable.  FF4 was the first one that really had a detailed story line to it.

Yeah, I haven't played FF 1 - 2 either, and I've heard the same thing. Basically FF1 was very primitive on the story department, since it was the first game of its kind after Dragon Quest.
There's a remake of FF3 on Nintendo DS. Not sure if it's on steam, but wiki says it was released on Windows in 2014.

~Edit~
Yes, it is on Steam.

I saw that, but the art style/graphics looking revamped. Is it recommended I play that version or try an older one?

Final Fantasy IX alone beats every Zelda game I've ever played.

No, I haven't.

I was joking on that post. I don't expect to compare both franchises only based on SS to be honest.

PS: But SS stinks hard. I'm sure I can play the worst FF but I wouldn't get SS beaten even for money.

So in fact, you haven't. What you sure is still just talk only, i will believe it when i see it.

Indeed. It is not a question of being able to play the worst FF it is a question of enjoying the worst FF.

I'm just doubting the worst FF is worst than Zelda SS.

The worst FF could be a bad game, while Zelda SS is unplayable to me. Utter crap.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

When PS4 will hit 100m consoles sold: Before Christmas 2019

There were three ravens sat on a tree / They were as blacke as they might be / The one of them said to his mate, Where shall we our breakfast take?

Only Final Fantasy I've ever tried was FF6 (on the SNES Mini), which I found incredibly boring so I stopped playing after a few hours. Other Final Fantasy games don't look very appealing to me either, so I'll most likely never play them.

Zelda on the other hand is my favourite franchise. So yeah, easy choice.

Well XIII is not only playable...it almost plays itself lol.

But I get ya, I loved Skyward Sword, but hate the utter trash that is RDR2 and Skyward Sword is a million times better to me (and I am very vocal about that fact lol).  No problem with blowing your opinion out of proportion for laughs, as I do it all the time as well.

Anyway chill out guys, I do not think 0D0 means any harm.  He is just having fun expressing how a game may have disappointed him.  In fact, I bet he is laughing at how overly sensitive people are being about it (I know I am lol).

By that logic, FFXIII is definitely playable if you let it play by itself. Also, we are talking about the story here, call me when you at least finish the story of FFXIII

Decided to revisit this thread to tweak it a little, changed the title to make it more inclusive to others, and added my scores for a few Zelda/Dragon Quest games I've since beaten.

I really wish they would make a FFI9 - 2. I'd love to see that story with those characters continue in updated visuals!
