I love people trying to justify him say "Nigger"to his "white" friend. All non blacks use the word in a derogatory tone and never with good intentions.

".All non blacks use the word in a derogatory tone and never with good intentions."

so black people always use this word in one way and white people always use it in another?

can you elaborate further?

But that's my point exactly, it's not actually solving any problem, if anything it's making things worse because someone is not going to be any less racist because they were told a word was "bad". It's not the word that is bad, is the sentiment of feeling like someone is superior due to any "x" arbitrary factor like skin color.

Education is the only way to open someone's mind to something new. Being exposed and interacting with different people is how you soften people up and have them realize these notions of "us" and "them" are just made up nonsense. The more you try and ban certain words, the more defensive you'll make such people to change their minds. And I also take objection to the notion of "being offended". That concept gets thrown around way too often and I have absolutely no connection to it. If someone says something absurd it's the easiest thing in the world to ignore that person.

Also, on your last point, i was more refering to the idea of tribalism, race is only one form of tribalism, but there are many others. Like feeling a deeper sense of empathy with people that live physically closer to you, nationalism, etc. All these feelings are quite natural and part of our evolutionary background. It takes modern sensibility to be aware of them and actively fight against those feelings.

Some people can't be educated mate as they simply don't want to hear it, education of someone requires them to open their mind and many of these people won't ever do that which is why you end up with the punishment route this isn't a case of informing someone still learning it's a situation involving changing someones deep rooted views which is a losing battle in many cases if you want an example of what I mean look at debates that question religion as no offence to them you can present evidence to some religious people and they'd still reject it hence why the law has to step in or rules have to be put in place to set precedents. Bare in mind I'm not knocking religious people but giving an example of how trying to open someone's mind to something other than what they believe isn't always an option.

Like it or not the punishment route has to be there another case point are the clowns you hear on Xbox Live and PSN in online games who are spewing racist and homophobic crap you can't educate this mob because they already know its wrong but do it anyway to just be offensive from the safety of anonymity.

When I say educate, I don't mean it in a condescending way like "I know you're dumb, but let me explain you exactly why you're a dumb ass" kind of way. I mean educate by the way of naturally exposing people to new groups of people, new experiences and then let them naturally realize there's a lot more they have in common than what separates them.

I'm an atheist myself, so I'm painfully aware of how some discussions go. But in your example it would be the akin to ban someone for having irrational beliefs. No matter how wrong they are, I would never advocate for banning someone because they disagree with me.

I would much rather having these people feeling ok to share their opinions in the open than having them feel like the victims and holding even stronger to such stupid beliefs.

"Do the pair of you think it's okay for a white person"

why delineate is at "white person"? aren't you discriminating by race then?

is it ok in your estimation for a white person to tell a black person "fuck you"?

define for me what you understand racism to mean

Yes I'm discriminating by race. I must be racist against white people, because I don't think they should be using that word.

So answer my question. It's a simple yes or no.

Do you think it's okay for a white person to call someone that word?

I know what you meant and still my point will stand as many of them aren't open to that it's just how some people are, my example would more be akin to banning someone who is extremist much like we already do now.

That's all well and good but many of these people are using their views only on actual victims and vulnerable people in the open they'd never step to someone who has the guile to take them on freedom of expression is also not freedom of consequence many of them refuse to be open to a change of view or to be educated so that scenario is the bed they've chosen and made.

so you're for racism against white people

"Do you think it's okay for a white person to call someone that word?"

if the intent is to attack black people as a race, no i don't think that's ok and to be consistent i also don't believe that racism against white people is ok

because without consistency all we are doing imo is farting into the wind

Very silly situation, but that are the rules where he is doing streaming.

My argument is that white people shouldn't be calling people that word.

Let's make this simple.

Do the pair of you think it's okay for a white person to call someone that word?

"Do the pair of you think it's okay for a white person"

why delineate is at "white person"? aren't you discriminating by race then?

is it ok in your estimation for a white person to tell a black person "fuck you"?

define for me what you understand racism to mean

Today's equality means that it is 100% ok to be racist towards white people. Oh, the irony. Moving backwards to move "forwards."

Such bullshit. White people enjoy black culture as well. Shocking, isn't it? It's pretty common, for white people as well, to use "nigger/nigga" in an amicable way. Someone texting "whaddap my nigga?" to his friend is racist now? Or only when it refers to white people?

Just out of interest, what would your views be if you were at some bar with karaoke and a song came on with that word in it as there was a white person singing? Would he be a racist if he said the lyric of the song? Perhaps one would use their own judgement when it comes to something like this song here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiLpyfD-AGI (this link is to a song with Explicit lyrics on youtube, don't play it if you're streaming on Twitch!) but at the same time I know Radcliffe omitted the word from his version of the Alphabet Aerobics on Jimmy Kimmel when clearly he mumbled over the word in the song as it ruins the flow to leave out certain words.

He actually leaves in Holocaust but takes out the N word from this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKdV5FvXLuI (This Link is to a song which features the word Holocaust.... but not bad words like the N word)

I'm just wondering what your feelings are, as soon as a white person says that word do they become a racist in your eyes, I mean, you are 100% judging a persons actions based on the colour of their skin but I'm just wondering if anyone who sings the word at a point in their life is racist, I'll feel rather bad as a fan of 50cent, D12 and many more while being the colour of low fat milk! I do what I do with no negative feelings towards the groups I love, you can judge me based on the colour of my skin as a racist :>

Its a fucking word. He typed it, he didnt even say it. It was on screen for a few seconds. This is what constitutes a ban these days?

lol at least there was a word.

I am banned for 3 months from YouTube because i used big bash in my title for a live stream event. Some dodgy Indian scammer company raised a copyright strike on it and YouTube basically said fuck you. Even when I challenged it, it has been under review for 2 months lol. The strike will expire quicker I think.
