Forums - Sales Discussion - PS5>XB4>NS units sold next gen

There is cero chance for the next xbox to outsell switch.

Around the Network

I'm highly doubtful of this: was the Nintendo DS slowed down by the launch of the XBox 360 one year later?

I think the PS5 will be a success, im skeptical about the next xbox (this is coming from someone who 90% of the time plays on Xbone)
The whole PC exclusives thing could lower the next xbox sales but at the same time, people who primarly only play on consoles and couldnt care less about PC would still buy an Xbox.
I think it depends on the exclusives and also if microsoft decides to do anything dumb like release the next xbox without a disc drive (as the only model). Also Xbox can improve in europe but it wont ever catch up to playstation there, and in japan theres no point even trying. But i do think if microsoft plays their cards correctly, xbox could gain a 2:1 lead in NA. Thats what it was like during the PS3/360 days. As for the switch, i thought that was 8th gen? xD i think itll continue to be a success.
PS5>Switch>Xb2

While that might be the safest bet given our current landscape, I think it is WAAAAAY too early to make those predictions.

This is also a rumor and unknown. Anaconda is rumored to be comparable (maybe a little stronger than, maybe a little weaker than) the PS5. Most of the rumors I've seen are just claims that it wants to be stronger than the PS5, but alternatively the rumors and confirmed info the PS5 both seem to have it above what we hear about the Anaconda. Unfortunately no one will know until at least E3 when they are both revealed.

Yesterday, Klobrille, an Xbox insider, showed some evidence to the Era admins that lead them to believe that Anaconda is indeed more powerful than PS5.

A 2nd Xbox insider, hmqgg, backed that up as well:

Hmmm interesting. Who are Klobrille and Nible and what are their track records? They off no evidence or numbers, nothing but claims of "X is more powerful than Y" which is really nothing more or less than most fans are doing right now.

It's a picture of Lost Odyssey 2 running at 4K 120fps on Anaconda.
How can u see 120fps in a picture?"

That made me laugh pretty hard xD

PS5 is confirmed by Mark Cerny to run natively at 4k and a can be upscaled to 8k. Based on what we know Sony may have the better GPU of the consoles as they seem to have a some deal going with AMD and it will be 7nm after all. Of course in reality that doesn't mean much and Microsoft will undoubtedly go 7nm but Sony's direct involvement in Navi development has me thinking theirs will be much more optimized in practice, which is a no brained when it comes to customized chipsets. That said the CPU was stated to only be an 8 core at an unknown clock speed. It is 100% possible that Anaconda could be going for a 16-core at a higher clock speed. The real test will be seeing how well the actual hardware runs and performs in practice, more cores are not always better depending how the instruction set is spread out.

Again as I said before I want reserve my judgments until it's revealed. The rumored specs of the Xbox One was well ahead of all the rumored PS4 specs and reality was very different from those rumors and leaks. It is true though that the PS4 originally had 4 gigs of ram, rather than 8. Speaking of which, rumors state Sony is looking to do some interesting stuff with memory this time around. I'm sure Microsoft will do the same however. My biggest concern is how much of a hit Microsoft is willing to take by dividing their hardware for a weaker and stronger version of their console, splitting up their game development. This could backfire as Sony will be focusing on one unified, powerful platform. Sony's first party exclusive games will undoubtedly look and play better than Anaconda's top first part titles as they will need to be able to run on Lockhart as well. Meaning it may win in frame-rate and even native resolution, it will most definitely fail to impress by being held back in polycount. I feel the skepticism of this two consoles out the gate is justified as the hardware is rumored to be different. It would another thing entirely if it was like the 360 where the price difference was hard-drive based.

It's hard to say how next gen will go, but Sony is definitely aiming for the hardcore gamers and the goodwill they built with the PS4. I do think that Microsoft may have a surprise or two up their sleeve that will keep them competitive and turn some heads though. I'm really excited to see what they bring this E3, and as the only major press conference on stage this year. They have the whole spotlight to themselves to take advantage of and have everyone focus on them. Phil Spencer claims he is going to take advantage of that moment. Time will tell if he succeeds and delivers the only thing that will sell the next Xbox. Games that people want to actually play!

Isn't this too premature to talk. As much i want this to happen, it will be hard to discuss if we don't know the price, the spec, the selling point. We don't have enough data and prove to talk and discuss, this will not lead to a good discussion.

Switch is at 35M, and will be at 55M+ when ps5 and xbox4 launch.
Hard to believe xbox4 will pass 55M with all the focus in services instead of hardware (with games in other plataforms, xcloud available elsewhere).
Even hard to think it would pass switch lifetime.
If ps5 keeps the ps4 trajectory, yeah it would pass switch. But is still too soon to predict anything, no infos, price, library, no clue about acceptance of stadia/apple/xcloud and how it would impact ps5...
for now: switch/ps5>xbox4

Switch is on fire right now. I can see 100+ million. They are also entering China which has the potential to be huge.

1doesnotsimply

The way I see things, the Switch is a last gen system so not really all that comparable to the next home consoles IMO ...

Doubt there'll be a higher end version of a Switch and I doubt it would alleviate the potential drying up of third party support anyways. Hitting resolution and frame rate targets are going to be the least of concerns when the vast majority of 3rd parties are going to be forced to accept the X1 as the bare minimum soon baseline for technically lower end games once the new systems reach the streets ...

^ this.

How can Switch be same gen as PS5 & XB2 ?

ARM Cortex-A57 @1ghz (x4 big cores + x4 little A53 cores) vs  8core/16 thread Zen2 @~3ghz AMD CPU.

CPU wise, Id bet thats like 20 times the power advantage to the PS5/XB2.

GPU wise:
Switch docked is 397 Gflops, while the PS5/XB2 will be 12-14 Tflops or so.
GPU wise, theres probably like a ~40 times power advantage to the PS5/XB2

GDDR6 will probably have like x20 times the memory bandwidth of the Switch.
SSD HDD will make the Switch HD look slow too.

Memory Size, will probably be x5 of the Switch's (16GB for gameing, +4GB for OS ect)

TBH Switch doesnt belong to same gen of hardware as PS5/XB2... its 2 gens behinde in terms of technological advancements.

It wont have TrueAudio, and be able to do raytraceing(audio) or graphics... it wont do VR, and it wont play current games at 4k@60.
Alot of Switch games are running below 720p 30fps.

The differnce between the Switch and PS5/PS6, is like compairing a PS2 to a PS4 almost, its a massive differnce in tech.
