Forums - Sony Discussion - Days Gone "VS" Horizon First Week Sales

Both are new IP's, Days Gone has the advantage of the bigger Userbase of ps4...Horizon Zero Dawn Sold 1,83 Mil First Week, do you think Days Gone can beat this...?

It will be very difficult  to match Horizon. Horizon was very unique (the look, main protagonist) and becouse of that much easier to market. A lot depends on reviews. I think a lot of people are waiting for a score to buy or skip (me included). Anyway 1 mill+  first week is a given.

1,2-1,5 mil if the game gets metascore between 80-85

I get the feeling there was more hype around Horizon

Anything above 1mil will be a win for Days Gone imo. While it does have the advantage of having a larger user-base compared to HZD, it's not as appealing to someone who is tired of the whole zombie genre.

Horizon was a GotY contender when it came out. I don't expect Days Gone to be GotY material. Just another great game for PS4.

A lot of people are saying Horizon has the advantage of being very unique, and I agree, but let's remember that when Horizon came out it had a lot of publicity against Breath of the Wild. When you have a comparison that has been as overused as Breath of the Wild and Horizon, naturally one of those games is going to come out looking "less unique". There were even a lot of fanboys arguing Horizon wasn't a unique product at all. I do think more people look at Horizon as a unique product compared to Days Gone, simply because Robot Dinosaurs haven't been capitalized on as much as Zombies as a concept. But still, Horizon did get some shit slung at it too.

I think Days Gone will do strong numbers but beating Horizon will be very difficult. I would love to see this game doing it though.

Lol..., i don't know what happens with this game in gaming forums but it's hilarous to me....It shows that people don't really pay attention at all. It happens the same to Ubisoft games like Ghost Recon, Far Cry, The Division, ....There are some games that is fine to shit on them in gaming forums and this is one of them. Days Gone has more chance to sell more during 1st week than Horizon. I'm not expecting the game being better, or selling more in the long run, but it's obvious a lot of mainstream consumers are going to buy this game. Horizon sold 2'6M in its first 2 weeks (counting digital). Days Gone is going to do similar just in a week is my bet, just wait and see...

You got a point. Far Cry 5 and New Dawn are terrible half assed games and still sold a lot. If the game appeals to more people and is better advertised than Horizon it will definitely sell more, even if it doesn't match the quality of other PS4 exclusives.

No, the game’s a couple years too late; the Zombie age is over, it’s all about superheroes now.
