Forums - Nintendo Discussion - New Switch Controller Promises Voice Chat Without The App

Wired? Blech.

Around the Network

I'll keep my eyes on this. Still a ways to go for a potential purchase. Maybe local save backups next?......

-edit. Wait. It's a wired controller?.....What is this? The time of Charlemagne?

You do realize there are people who still buy wired controllers today, right?

People do all kinds of things. Do you know how many times I've smoked crack? Take a guess.....But TWO fuckin' wires? I might be crazy but I ain't no fool. By the way, if you ever get the chance to try crack, give it a shot. Amazing. Don't believe all the negative hype. Just, don't overdo it or make it anything more than a weekend thing in your youth and you'll be fine. Oh, and never throw your girlfriend out of a moving car.

was a shame the way voice chat was handled on the Switch, just that people are still under the impression that it's not possible without some phone app... I mean if you chuck any usb or phone type headset into the Switch you can play fortnite and talk to your team, no need for anything other than the game and a headset with a mic in the 3.5mm jack.

Some people use wired controllers in the competitive sphere because of the lower latencies.  Myself, I prefer using wired to minimize EM radiation exposure, given that even the WHO has come out and said that EM can increase cancer risk.

When it comes to wearing headphones and how close they are positioned to your brain tissue for an extended period of time, I would highly recommend only using wired from a health standpoint.  Of course, I expect that I am in the 1% minority on this issue, not that it bothers me in the least.

All they really need to is make the app a bit more fleshed out and just install the damn thing on the Switch itself to run in the background.  I do not know why they are trying to over complicate something so simple.

Fortnite shows that you don't need any app to have voice chat in your games. Just need the software to have chat as a part of it . What you need for chat in that game is a headset, even nice usb headsets work fine my 7.1 set from the pc works perfectly
