sadly seems so.

That would be quite shocking to me, considering that the ones on the previous generations sucked hard imo. I didn't hit wrong directions either (which, considering they're basically 4 different buttons on those like on the Joycons, is hardly amazing), but my fingers hurt after just a couple of minutes while I could go on forever on Nintendos or Segas controllers. I could never play more than 20 minutes of Sould Calibur 3 without a break for my left thumb, for instance.

I know I did, because I thought that's were the conversation was going,
and yeah don't think I would want to do online modding again.
I think that a publisher does have some weight in the development of a game, we've heard stories of publishers killing the general direction of games in the past, still this is a very specific part related to controls. You might be right that developers know their ins and out of their software plus are more capable on tweaking that, but a publisher might still have some say in that. Depends how much of a control freak they are, and we know Nintendo.
Anyways, this could all just be me jumping into conclusions in order to shoe-in a discussing of the Pro's D-Pad which I have had issues in the past.

You mean like this one? I got this because it was considerably cheaper and it's actually become my default controller for Switch and PC. |
D-Pad on that i'm sure is great. 8BitDo has been hitting out the park with their controllers. I do much prefer good grips, though I do of course use non grip-able 8BitDo controllers for the nostalgias.
I know this thread has gone off the original topic, but just wanted to say that the "low sensitivity" setting in Tetris 99 works great for me when using a Pro controller. I have yet to have faulty hard drop in 4 games, and it happened 1-2 times per game prior to the update. (I still prefer the feel of joy-cons in this particular game, however.)

I don't miss the grips when I use this thing honestly. It's been my default Sekiro controller and it's been working well.
That being said, I'll probably pick up one of their grip models when they're released.
And yes, the d-pad is fantastic.
