Gonna have to call BS on that.  At launch, you were lucky to get 5 hours.  Now they did get better over time, but my newest DS4 bought about a year ago lasts maybe 8 to 10 hours at most with the light on dim.  To me, the battery life is fine now, but I highly doubt anyone is getting even close to 20 hours per charge.

I don't clock the battery life on my DS4,

But on a regular play week of like 2h per day plus over 12h on the weekend I remember my controller holding up pretty well for the full period and sometimes needing one full charge.

Hmmmmmm, I do not clock mine either so maybe I am wrong on this.  I am gonna do a B playthrough on REmake 2 this weekend.  I think I may actually time it because now I am curious.  It still never seemed more than 8 hours to me, but in the moment I suppose it is easy to lose track of time.

Yeah, like this one. There's a grip one that i might going to purchase this new model.

Yeah, I've seen the grip one on their site.  Haven't seen it locally yet.  But even without the grips, I find this probably the best third party controller in existence. And it has x-input compatibility, so it's fully Windows/Steam compatible.

*edit* Nevermind the one with grips isn't released yet.

Mine lasts maybe 6~8 hours, and that's with the light dimmed to the lowest setting. It definitely uses a lot of battery, but it's not a huge issue for me at least, as I just have a habit of plugging it in when I'm done playing. Even if I do forget to plug it in and it does end up dying while I'm playing a game, I can usually just give it a quick 5 or 10 minute charge and I'll be good to go for at least a little while.

Better get the aftermarket controller for better designed d-pads, the first party d-pads are nearly useless for movements nowadays.

Now that controller looks more my bag.

Although, I do really like the dual joycons and NES controllers.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Yes, and also you are right on the majority seeing DS4 battery to be a lot lower than DS3 (DS3 I even forgot when I last charged when I was playing), similarly it seems like under 10h is the average life most say their control have in VGC.

Only had a problem with it when playing Tetris. They should still make it better though.

I almost forgot to tell you about the grips model, apparently they delayed the Pro+ to summer 2019

I sent my pro controller during its first year warranty, and the dutch repair service said it was not an issue, ha ha.

This is my solution for the D-Pad.

Are you sure Nintendo are responsible for this decision?
As far as I can tell, Nintendo are the publishers, but Arika are the developers.

Arika are also fighting game developers (Fighting Layer EX for example), so they're probably very keen on input accuracy.
I don't see why this patch wouldn't have been Arika's own idea.

Nintendo accepted the patch, they know Arika performed a software tweak in the controls.

Sony's dpad is awful. The dpda on the SNES controllers is the best. WiiU pro controller has a very good dpad as well.

WiiU pro controller is quite good, people even switch the Switch's D-Pad with WiiU's.

See, my Pro controller is from a later batch, which has had the D-pad issues massively improved from the original release. So much for them "not doing a physical fix".

Was it really? As I mentioned above Nintendo refused to repair my own Pro controller.

People have a tendency to try and stand out amongst the crowd so they generally have opinions that fall on the extremes (i.e., this d-pad is the best; this other d-pad sucks), when in reality it seems quite trivial to me, as I have no issues using any controller.

Edit: How could a left input result in an up input? Worst case scenario you unintentionally press left+up at the same time, which can be distinguished from an up input. If the developers made it so that an up-left input performs the hard drop, then they need to fix it and make it so that only up will perform the drop. Or am I missing something? I've been playing more of Tetris Effect than Tetris 99 so I don't know how the controls differ.

I exaggerated the title a bit, the d-pad doesn't suck it is just really bad with Tetris, noticed for the first time when I played Puyopuyo Tetris. So I was surprised no one was noticing with Tetris99, but lo and behold this update came up.

Sure, as they would with any other patch released for a game they publish.
Though that doesn't mean they acknowledge that there is a problem with their controller, but rather that they allow Arika to do what they think is best for their game. The only thing they checked for in the patch was probably to make sure the patch contains what Arika specified, and if it would cause any problems.

That's not to say that Nintendo don't think there's a problem with their d-pad, but I don't think this patch sheds any light on that.
Let's say Nintendo don't think there's a problem with it. Do you think they would then prohibit Arika from releasing that patch? I don't think so. It's their game, and they're trusted to make those judgement calls.

It's published by Nintendo and used to promote the Nintendo Online service.
Surely Arika just decided to update the D-Pad sensitivity out of the blue, right?
Where did they get the feedback to tweak the controls? Twitter complaints?
Wouldn't said feedback come from the publisher, who is the public face to the userbase?

Anyways it's just semantics.
You are free to change the title and thread if you think it doesn't represent the news.

I prefer Pro's dpad over PS4s but overall ive never had an issue with either of them. Both are comfortable to me and have never given me problems.
