Forums - Nintendo Discussion - RUMOR: Persona 5, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and Zelda: A Link to the Past in Best Buy's Employee Terminal

Maybe I'm too jaded for my own good, but I have started rolling my eyes at these rumors because they are so constant. How many times are we going to hear the rumour that Metroid Prime Trilogy is on the way before it actually happens? I would love to see Persona 5 come to Switch, but it's another one of those games that the rumor mill is constantly buzzing around and the mainline series hasn't left Sony since it's inception! That's twenty-five years! Remember when GTA V was heavily rumoured? Nothing ever came of it. Fallout 4? Nothing. We got a momentarily entertaining port of a mobile game, and that's likely all we'll get.

Yes, rumours occasionally do become reality: Diablo III, South Park: FbW/SoT, Dark Souls, etc. More often than not, though, these rumours end up being a whole lot of nothing. They've been hitting this really obnoxious fever pitch lately.

It's largely because they aren't real rumours, but people lying and then labelling it as a rumour to avoid having to confirm it.

A rumour is information where the source is unknown, not unreliable information with a known source

How exactly is A Link To The Past based on wild internet speculation on the internet?  That one seems to have come out of nowhere.

In terms of Metroid Prime Trilogy this is an obvious game that will be coming to Switch at some point. Would make perfect sense to come out later this year because I don't see any other 1st party games this year that could really serve as a showcase and help to push the new Pro hardware model.

Like I said about Altp, how ? It doesn't order from any speculation so far but I'd say it puts into serious question their system.

i'm not saying Metroid Prime Trilogy doesn't make sense btw. Just saying, this has been in the cooker for so long due to earlier speculation (since the VGA's) that I'm not surprised that this scenario is repeating itself with Persona 5.

Yeah.. I wouldn't take any of this as confirmation just that it gives a little more credibility to the rumors on Metroid Prime Trilogy and Persona 5. In terms of A Link To The Past that one seems strange no doubt. Could be some possible explanations.  Some have said that maybe for Super Nintendo games on Switch you will need to purchase them individually and that bestbuy might sell download codes for it. That doesn't hold much water in my mind because why would there only be one in the system and it seems unlikely that super Nintendo games wouldn't eventually become part of their subscription service. Also very unlikely that there will be shelf space for individual VC games. If there's any validity to the listing its perhaps more likely a pre-order bonus for Link's Awakening.

Didi they confuse Link's Awakening with Link to the Past?

I wonder how MPT will work with JoyCons. The aiming has been pretty off compared to the Wii. Hopefully it adds dual-stick to all the games.

And why would it be published by Nintendo? Persona 5 was published by Atlus and Deep Silver, Persona Q2 is published by Atlus. No reason to be published by Nintendo.

I don't have "faith", I would be happy to play an improved P5 on the go. But people just trust any baseless rumor without asking any questions, just because "they said S and S is Switch" .

Persona 4 U didn't release on the Wii U as far as I know, so let's wait to see what this S is. Since the website message mentions directly a sumo/wrestling arena, it's not unlikely to get a multiplatform fighting game, which we know is coming.

For me, a Switch announcement would be made during the Royal reveal, with PS4 and Switch versions properly announced.

The sumo/wrestling arena that was mentioned is the place that the Persona concert is taking place. It has no correction with the fighting game

Oh, you're right. And actually, the concert will take place on April 25th there, and that's when they usually announce stuff.

I saw many people speculating about "The date of the announcement is related to Nintendo" so I didn't even think about the annual concert at that time. It's obvious though...

So yeah, maybe not a clue about the fighting game. But I'm still expecting an announcement about this game soon!

If this turns out to be just a rumor I'm gonna be pissed. -_-

It IS labelled as just a "rumour" =)

Although, I would call it a lie based on speculation.

Why would Dragon Quest XI be published by Nintendo? Why would Dragon Quest Builders be published by Nintendo? Despite those games were published by Square? I mean, this isn't anything new to the gaming world. Nintendo would publish the game to take on the cost that Atlus and Sega would have to eat otherwise. And of course this could mean that the Switch version gets things that Royal doesn't get. The same way Dragon Quest XI is getting things the PS4 version isn't getting and legally can't unless it's timed.

But like I said, heh...just wait for the 25th.

Edit: But you do raise a good point, P5 Arena was delayed so this could be the fighting game, so okay we'll wait for the 25th.

I agree that it could be published by Nintendo. But about the extra content point you raised with DQ XI as an example, (aside from the 3DS gameplay) that was probably done because the Switch version comes out over 2 years after the original PS4 release in Japan.
The enhanced version of Persona 5 should release on all systems fairly simultaneously, if it's a multi platform title. If they differ from each other in any significant way, I don't think it would be that one version has more meaningful extra content than the other.

Well yeah, I was just giving a scenario to relate to more than anything. It could be with or without extra content, the same way DQXI has and DQB2 doesn't. They could have just as easily released the vanilla DQXI on Switch. The Switch version of P5 would also release many years after the PS3 and PS4 versions. But like you said, I also don't think the content would be super meaningful. Maybe cross over costumes or something along those lines. Maybe something that ties in with Smash or something. I don't think it'll be anything along P5R.

A Link to the Past? Maybe they mean Link's Awakening? ...Oh, nevermind Link's Awakening is already in their system. Huh, if they're doing a full 3D remake of A Link to the Past I'm down day 1.

This is the only way i'll replay that game. I recently beat that game (after years of putting it off) and it's my most disliked zelda yet. a 3D version would be ok though.

only thing that confuses me is the link to the past listing, if it was just their little monthly VC like releases, it wouldnt have its own best buy listing

if it was just a preorder bonus for links awakening, it wouldnt have its own best buy listing either

I'm banking that its just a mistake somehow by bestbuy themselves
