Lots of anticipation for Switch games. Less for Playstation. Kind of think the lull period for Sony is more an indication of the PS5 being on the horizon. In fact, I kind of expect Ghosts of Tsushima to be a PS5 release while TLOU2 to come to both PS4 and PS5.

I think the varying sizes of the 4 main supporter bases is the major factor in these surveys outcomes.

Different tastes, I guess. For instance, I find that graphical style of Link's awakening so hideous it kills all hype for me, and I can't get behind playing a shooter on a console after being used to mouse+Keyboard for 20+ years now (with Splatoon and it's motion aiming being an exception as this replicates mouse+keyboard much better than just a thumbstick).

Also, I'm sure Nintendo couldn't show too much more of the game without spoiling plot points, and what's left they keep it for E3.

Didn't they patch in gyro controls into Doom? I don't see why Doom Eternal wouldn't have them as well.

All Panic Button's Switch shooters got gyro aiming; Doom, Wolfenstein II, even Warframe. It's pretty much guaranteed that Eternal will have them as well.

It's funny how Metroid was in the top spot without knowing anything about it except for a teaser that showed nothing, and now that it has changed developer to the studio that successfully managed to bring it into the 3D world, it has completely disappeared from the chart. It's funny, and a bit sad, how volatile people really are.

It also surprises me to see the Switch version of Doom Eternal being the most voted one, as there are more FPS players on the other platforms and Eternal is a different game than most.

I think it's understandable that the news of Prime 4 being restarted killed the hype for it; it's hard to be excited about something that's now likely 4+ years away and which we've still seen nothing at all of.

As for Doom Eternal, there's not a whole lot of shooters on Switch there's a hunger for more.

Love how high Astral Chain is

Really nice to see Astral Chain so high.
In Platinum I trust.

That is one factor but the PS4 was thriving in its earlier days on here. Nintendo have announced so many games (many with release dates or release windows) whereas Playstations biggest titles are still very much up in the air as far as the audiences know. When they were down, Nintendo dominated with one or two titles and Playstation still managed to get more games and/or more points overall. I'm hoping PS4 gets 1 last boost before jumping to next gen. But I don't think it'll manage to get the most votes or most games again. Probably just isolated titles like TLOU2 and Ghost of Tsushima hitting #1.

I agree it's a mix of both of our observations that's driving these outcomes.

But the hype it had was completely false, only because of the name. Sure, the news of a reboot in the development are always negative, but at least now we know that Nintendo cares about the game/IP (something that after Federation Force I wasn't sure about) and also that they've given it to the studio that knows best how to work with the IP. To me, those two bits of info are far more exciting than what we knew before the delay.

In the case of Doom Eternal is a mix between one platform craving for more FPs while the other two platforms are where most of the FPS crowd are. And, as I said, it's not that there are many games like Doom Eternal on PS4/X1 or even PC either given how different if from the likes of CoD or Battlefield. It will still sell more on those platforms, tho.

Please excuse my bad English.

Before the restart, a lot of people were hopeful they'd get to play it this year or next. Now it's looking unlikely it'll come out before 2023 at the earliest. It's hard to maintain any enthusiasm for something that's years and years away.

And Doom Eternal may sell more on PS4 in the market at large, but this isn't a poll of the mass market, this is a poll of a small community of hardcore video game enthusiasts.
