PSA: Sony is planning to take the ENTIRE Driveclub franchise off the Playstation Store on August 31st, server shutdown also planned for next year

Deslisting is completely normal for racing games. Forza games also get delisted within 4 to 5 years. Unfortunately it's all in the hands of the real life car manufacturers, and there's nothing that can be done about that.

Shutting down the online though? That's complete bullshit. For reference, Forza Motorsport 2, which came out in 2007, has servers that are still up to this day. Burnout Paradise (the original version from 2008) is still up and running too.
Sony has constantly shut down many game servers last few years of PS3, Vita, and even PS4 games. Where is all that PS Plus money going, Sony?

The game itself is great, one of the best racing games of this generation I reccomend it to everyone before its gone for good.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I wished I stopped buying games digitally.

You can still download it even after its removed from PSN.

Providing you bought it digitally.

Now imagine if gaming was limited to streaming only like some are thinking (and actively hoping) will happen in the near future.

And even with digital, there's still no guarantees that you'll always be able to re-download a game. I lost all my Halo 2 DLC after MS stopped supporting the OXbox in 2010, rendering it lost forever. If anything happens to my Virtual Console & WiiWare games I bought for the Wii, those copies are gone forever. It's entirely possible that one day Sony will just stop selling PS4 games digitally.

Not much anyone outside of the Industry can do about that though.

Its unfortunately inevitable

Why? Why stop? Two driving sims is one too many?

Driveclub is not an simulation racer, it's rather more to the arcade side with a some sim elements in it.

It seems incredibly bizarre for them to remove it from the PS store.

Especially since the game can be played offline...

The same thing has happened to some older Forza games on Xbox. It is most likely because a licensing agreement for some of the cars in the game expired after 5 years, and Sony doesn't want to pay to renew the license or go in and remove the expired cars via a patch, so they are taking the lazy route and delisting the whole game.
