Forums - Sony Discussion - PSA: Sony is planning to take the ENTIRE Driveclub franchise off the Playstation Store on August 31st, server shutdown also planned for next year

That's seems like a strange thing to do.

Did one of those cars diddle a kid?

I wished I stopped buying games digitally.

Deslisting is completely normal for racing games. Forza games also get delisted within 4 to 5 years. Unfortunately it's all in the hands of the real life car manufacturers, and there's nothing that can be done about that.

Shutting down the online though? That's complete bullshit. For reference, Forza Motorsport 2, which came out in 2007, has servers that are still up to this day. Burnout Paradise (the original version from 2008) is still up and running too.
Sony has constantly shut down many game servers last few years of PS3, Vita, and even PS4 games. Where is all that PS Plus money going, Sony?

The game itself is great, one of the best racing games of this generation I reccomend it to everyone before its gone for good.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Hopefully it wont end up like Driveclub.

Or GT6

Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Why? Why stop? Two driving sims is one too many?

Driveclub is not an simulation racer, it's rather more to the arcade side with a some sim elements in it.

still my favourite race of this gen, thought the game was incredible. sad to see it put out to pasture

Delisting racing games is completely normal and happens all the time. Shutting down the online mode however isn't.
I believe there are still plenty of people playing considering there aren't that many racers out there and there's no sequel to the game.

It's in the name if Driveclub was Gran Turismo Club it most likely would be still be going, but it isn't and since GT Sport is built around online, and with the developer gone it is now surplus too requirements.
