Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Just drink as much as you can. If you can't afford them, you can drink leftover drinks people left at other tables.

My few clubbing experiences were horrific and embarrassing.
-Desperately talking to different girls only to be immediately shot down.
-Being asked to buy drinks by a couple of girls saying "You're just using me for drinks. You're going to leave as soon as I buy them" and immediately being left the second they got the drinks in their hands.
-Dancing SO BADLY that the girl who asked me to dance danced away from me and was never seen again.
-Going to a club on what I didn't know was "ladies night" and being surrounded by male strippers

It's like a bad 90s movie and I feel like jumping off of a building just thinking about it. You don't want my advice.

You will want to go dancing, since that's the only thing to do there. The music is so loud you can't have any conversations, the drinks are expensive as fuck, it's like you try to order a beer and they'll want one of your kidneys in exchange. The girls are not interested in being picked up at all (and who could blame them when there is always a threat of knockout drops and similar horror stories), they only want to dance by themselves. There are tons of drooling men trying to desperately hit on the girls with zero success, yet the men won't understand getting rejected, claim she must be on her period and just go to the next girl. You will see lots of hot chicks with noses high up in the air, and you will witness awkward flirting attempts, maybe a fist fight or two because hey man, how could I know that she had a boyfriend, man? I was just dancing yo and she was shaking that ass and I was like yo, you're mine now, man, I didn't anything bad, okay? Just chill now, alright?!

If you don't like dancing, well then, Just enjoy the music, that's it.

Then, later. As the hours go by the crowd gets sparse. Late at night, four or five a.m., most clubbers will have left. Only the most desparate and/or drunk will stay, the left-overs! Looking at each other through their blurry and tired eyes, stomachs full of fancy drinks and gallons of beer and booze, almost falling off their chairs, and the marbles in their head will bump at each other in unexpected ways. They will realize that this is the final chance, this is it now. All or nothing! And then they will rise, clumsily standing up, stumble towards each other, grunting something totally incomprehensible, laughing about absolutely nothing then falling into each others open arms and sticking the tongue into their mouths. This unromantic and unappetizing experience is actually the true reason why somebody would want to go clubbing. Scored!

Otherwise, just enjoy yourself there, have fun and don't mind if your dancing skills are awkward, that's okay. All eyes on you! Give it all you've got!

It's only 4:40 AM and you might have just made my day. Especially the dancing bit. :)

@OP Although I had fun a few times, I mostly thought nightclubs were terrible, and prefer a more intimate setting. The flashing lights in the darkness, loud music I often didn't like, people all crowded and buzzing around. And Jesus Christ, just the bathroom, wait till' you see the bathroom....yeah, sorry, no advice.

Yup.  This is pretty much how it works.

These are true words, people.

Avid ''clubber'' here. I'm 30 and I head out 3 - 5 times a month. And the above, is exactly why the scene is so much better now then ever before. As far as London goes anyway. None of this girls enter free crap or standing around looking pretty waiting for guys to buy them drinks. They are there for one thing and one thing only, dance or just listen to the music.

You should too.

OP, depends on what you mean clubbing. Where are you from and what music / scene will it be. Are you a student or are you going because you are a fan of the DJ?

Don't go to clubs with the mindset that you're going to pick up girls. Most girls in clubs are well aware that they are in the minority and that they get to decide--and even then, they might just be there to dance with their friends.

Go out and dance and if they're interested they'll start dancing with you. Otherwise, you're setting yourself up to get shot down. Of course, that can be an effective tactic, too. I've seen guys get shot down over and over and not care, then end the night with a girl. A friend of mine used to be like that and he was always going out on dates.

The most effective "tactic" is just to talk to girls without looking like you're trying to pick them up. Don't be afraid to speak or make a joke, then say, "see ya," and walk away. You might bump into them later. Make a good impression first. Come off as a creeper who is just looking for anything female and you'll probably be shut down for good.

1) I'm curious of what were your experience? And any tips for beginners about to club and what not to do?

- Go there with some friends and just to enjoy the drinks and friends.  Don't expect to feel you need to pick up girls or anything.  Pretty much go there without any expectations and just to have fun with your friends.  Dont get hammered, nobody ever leaves the club a winner being smashed.

2) Is it a good idea to pick up chicks in clubs?

- Depends on what you look for in a girl lol jk.  Just cause a girl goes clubbing in no way means she's just wanting to sleep around, she could just be there with group of friends (which makes it harder to pick up girls when they're in packs lol).  If you try to just make some short and sweet conversation and if she doesn't seem interested in you then move on.  No harm no foul and dont feel bad if you get rejected, there's more girls there.

3) How much do you pay?

- Depending on the club can easily be $10-20 at the door.  Expect to pay more for drinks than your average bar.  Also doesn't hurt to buy a girl a drink if you start talking to one.

4) Do you take someone with you and what do you do if someone flirts with your girl while your taking a leak?

- Take your friends so that it feels less awkward.  Going solo just makes you look like you're only there to try and pick up girls, sure that may be the main reason most go to clubs, but its just looks creepier doing it solo.

- If you take a date/gf with you, if no guy hits on your girl then great, but expect guys to try and hit on her even if you're beside her, some guys are that pathetic.  But just play it cool and say something like 'sorry she's with me' and dont try to act defensive because if the guy is intoxicated they can get the wrong impression that you're trying to start something.

- If you gotta go to the bathroom your gf may get hit on but you just have to trust nothing stupid will happen while you're gone and trust that she's more than capable to fend of guys.  ....Or better yet take her to the bathroom with you ;)

5) What can a beginner expect/should or shouldn't do when clubbing?

- Dance.  Even if you're not a good dancer, just move around a bit just so the girls there notice that you're not an awkward stiff and would be more approachable.  Drink if it'll help loosen you up, but only drink enough.

Ultimately, enjoy the night with no expectations except to try and have fun, and it's best to go with friends.
