I fear this movie might be too ambitious for its own good.

How so?

The 2014 Godzilla was rather decent. This appears to be much better with much more Godzilla it seems .

I loved the two previous trailers, but this one wasn't that great. I hope to God they don't play up the cheesey jokes/quips, like the intimidation (in another recent trailer) and the damn straight lines. I also hope they don't keep repeating the theme about it being Godzilla's world/us joining him. The one line from Wantanabe about us being his "pets" was great, but now we have four other lines repeating the same basic thing in one trailer. Once is enough. Anymore than that and it makes it feel like the director thinks we're freaking stupid and don't get it.

As long as they give good equal time to the stars of the movie, I care less about any of that.  My main mission is to see iconic creatures do what they do best and whatever the humans do is hopefully stay as much out of the way as possible unless they are fodder.  Godzilla and all of these movies were very cheezy when I grew up so I really do not care if they continue with some cheese.

As an avid Godzilla fan, I'm very much looking forward to this movie. Despite its issues, I enjoyed the 2014 movie and found it much better than the 1998 abomination which wasn't just a bad Godzilla movie, but bad movie, period. I never bought the argument "if it wasn't called Godzilla, it would be great!" No, it would still be a terrible movie.

Rich of RedLetterMedia said it best in their Half in the Bag episode on the two American Godzilla films (@16:37): "the 2014 movie has its issues, but what it needed to get right, it got absolutely right. This (G98) doesn't get anything right." :

Throw in 3 other iconic monsters, plus the promised increased screentime for Godzilla, and I have reason to be (cautiously) optimistic.

Oh yeah, can't wait for May 31st. Looks like it will be a grand spectacle

T Minus 5 hours until my day 1 screening. Really excited!

Here's the final trailer. (Haven't watched it myself as I'm trying to go in with as blank a slate as possible, without having any of the action bits spoiled)
