Would've expected that sort of score (high 70s - low 80s). First day buy for me.

Solid meta. Was hoping for something more like 85, but too many critics will never get past the idea of a game that is just meant to entertain, not challenge.

I love me some SNES Yoshi's Island, and the DS one (but much less so). Wooly World, though, it didn't really do it for me. But, the mixing of the foreground and background in this is really interesting, so I'm gonna get it!

Meta scores are generally not a good thing to go by because they consider crap reviewers, biased reviewers, and youtube hobbyists that somehow get held up with the same respect as professional game journalists. Not to mention there is no unified standard of scoring, no unified quality of scoring, so basically it's an arbitrary number.

For almost two years Opencritic let you blacklist any reviewers you didn't like. I blocked all the bad reviewers, youtubers,  and biased reviewers. Most games still got within two or three points of the official metascore. So a game getting 81 on MC would wind up getting anywhere from 78 to 84 on my personal Opencritic settings.

But they took that away, so now I have to whip out a calculator at times and do my own math, whenever a game falls into the 80ish range. Or I'll just hit up Destructoid, and use Chris Carter's reviews as the final say so. Or I'll go to Easy Allies to see what they say.

Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3 - 91
Yoshi's Crafted World - 81

Yoshi's Woolly World - 78
Yoshi Touch & Go - 73
Yoshi's Story - 65
Yoshi's New Island - 64
Yoshi Topsy-Turvy - 60

Generally in Yoshi games, the Levels themselves ain't particularly difficult. The difficulty comes from collecting everything, or trying to reach everything.

More or less. I played Yoshi's Island DS and I still remember the first level being way more attractive to play. IDK, Yoshi's Crafted World's demo level almost felt like one of those interactive museums you have available in the DS entry.

Glad I'm not the only one that remembers what Yoshi can be. I still can't beat some of the extra unlockable levels in Yoshi's Island DS. The first levels weren't unfair, really nothing in the game felt unfair, but collecting everything was VERY challenging, and if you did, you unlocked extra levels that tested your skill.

This is about the score I was expecting based on what I saw. I'll probably get it at some point when I have more money to spare.
