5 bucks say that Trump did not cancel anything and had to be kept by several staff members by force to not put on his golf shorts. Saying that Trump would act on anything based on bad optics is a wishful lie.

That's what I was thinking. The only optics Trump cares about are those of his loyal evangelical voting base. Either that or Bunkerboy was too scared to go golfing.

They need to install a putt putt course in his bunker.  I mean what the heck is he supposed to do when he isn't watching TV or tweeting?  I'm a little concerned for him.

I just saw a YouTube ad of Laura Trump saying Trump's birthday is coming up and to add your name from his supporters to his card with a special message to him.

I am so tempted to send my regards but I'll refrain myself.

I keep seeing the ad too. Not only with Laura but other conservatives with ties with Trump.

looks like an increasing amount of republican politicians refuse to back Trump now.

It seems to me like both parties are slowly getting pulled apart: The Democratic party in it's left with movements like Justice Democrats and the rise of the DSA (which just reached 70k members btw) while the GOP on it's more authoritarian right wing with Trumps followers and the Tea Party. Maybe the US get 3 larger parties in the future: A left to center-left Party, a centrist to center-right Party and a right-wing to far right party.

Dunno if this was posted yet, but here's a spreadsheet of the hundreds of documented instances of police brutality in the US in the last two weeks. More being added all the time:

EDIT: Sorry, forget there was a protest thread, now.

Just going to advise that if you want people to listen to your message, don't use Prager U and Ben Shapiro to speak that message for you.

Very intelligent speaker/debater but his perception of reality is flawed as he turns his brain off whenever crossing the border of religion and he has a way of spinning halftruths or assumptions into ''facts'' whenever they fit his agenda,he's also good in giving otherwise unimportant information more weight in order to outdo his opponents.

Not saying i never agree with what he says but people should be very skeptical about the numbers and facts he brings up without clear sources.

There was a time before US politicians pandered to the idiocy of the lunatic fringe, and it was recent.

Now you not only have an inmate running the asylum, but the whole damn US.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

What do you mean? I always like to get my pseudo-intellectual churnalism from a bobble-headed midget.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

This is just an astonishing poll that CNN came out with yesterday. Among the findings are that President Trump's job approval rating now stands at just 38% compared to 57% who disapprove, that he trails his Democratic challenger Joe Biden by 14 points here less than five months out from election day, that 65% of Americans believe he has done more harm than good in responding to the current protest wave sweeping the nation, and that 42% of Americans now consider race relations an "extremely important" factor in shaping which way they will vote in the fall (which is way up and on par other leading items on the minds of voters like health care and the economy for I believe the first time).

As the article points out, Trump's current job approval rating is "roughly on par with approval ratings for Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush at this point in their reelection years. Both went on to lose the presidency after one term."

Most presidents get re-elected. It's a testament to how unusually bad the current one is that it appears he's on track for defeat in his re-election bid at this stage. It's not difficult to figure out why though. We have the worst coronavirus outbreak on Earth, the worst economy we've had since the Great Depression, we've abandoned all our allies and none of them trust us anymore, and the president now fears the general public so much that he's barricaded himself inside the White House (hey, he finally got his wall!). Among other things! His campaign slogan is "Keep American Great". If this is greatness, give me misery back! Seriously.

Sounds like a good thing to me. 3 big parties would definitely be better than only 2.

More relevant parties is certainly a good thing. The problem is that winner takes all invariably leads to just 2 parties being relevant after a while, so getting rid of that hopelessly outdated elective system would be the first step to ensure this to happen. Here's a great video on the subject from CGP Grey:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7tWHJfhiyo

About the Spoiler Effect mentioned in the video: Remember the 2000 election where Al Gore narrowly lost? Ralph Nader got many votes for the Green Party, but those where almost all coming from the democratic party, resulting in a victory for Bush. This is why a third party in the US with the current system is a risky move.
