President Trump Signs Executive Order Protecting Free Speech On College Campuses | TIME

It's about time someone did something about this issue. Liberals are way out of control and started using physical violence to promote their beliefs.

That's good.

Will it change anyones behavior though?

So universities can't get grant money unless they allow everyone to speak. I'm curious to see if this is applied across the board. Pretty sure private religious universities can get federal grants too. Will they be required to let anyone speak?

Also, what exactly is this meant to solve?

Some schools (mostly private schools) have rules that limit things you can say or talk about on their campus. The government gives billions of dollars to colleges every year so these schools would have to change their rules if they want to continue to get this money.

On this subject, I mostly agree with John Rawls' position when he claims that a just society must tolerate even the intolerant or else be deemed injust. Of course, that wouldn't mean it should abdicate the right to self-preservation. That is, anyone advocating the return of slavery or genocide, a secession war etc. would still need to be supressed.

Public Universities already have to comply with the First Amendment. All this really does is let the federal government dictate speech on campuses which could actually directly go against free speech if it is actually enforced beyond what enforcement currently exists.

I think Trump bought into the fictional problem of Conservative views being banned from speech at Universities. So he made up a redundant order to fix an imaginary problem.

Like the nature of the pro-homosexual protests, for religious universities, this is gonna blow up in their faces.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

As a junior at a University this is a huge relief. Leftist students run the show around here and they hate it now that they are getting push back. While I am already protected by the first amendment as a conservative independent student, This gives me extra padding to share my views without fear.

Oh do not worry, this gives a lot of groups protection to speak their mind and that will be at any university.  This is a pandora box waiting to explode and you can believe if you think this just allows conservatives to speak their mind just wait until the liberals take there cases to private universities.
