Forums - Sony Discussion - Persona 5: The Royal - Teaser (More info on April 24th)

Well, not surprising at all this is happening, glad that I waited (though many times I felt tempted to buy the vanilla version of the game beause it was cheap).

Edit: though maybe there's a chance they'll sell the extra content as DLC for the people who bought the vanilla version.

Well now we know what Persona 5 R is. What about Persona 5 S, Persona 5 M, and Persona 5 B though? Yes, those are all domains registered by Atlus. I think S stands for Switch, B is for xBox (this would be weird), or Battle (as in a fighting game), and M will either be the PC version or something I can't even guess at.

I give Persona 5 90% odds of coming to Switch. Joker is coming to Smash. S Stands for Switch. Persona 3, and 4 both got portable versions. Vita isn't around anymore, so I see Switch as the portable system for Atlus to port it to. That's three fairly good inductive arguments in favor of it coming to Switch.

I do want to point out its pretty common for publishers to register multiple domain names for one product because they have not yet decided on what they want to use. Letters are just an attempt to hide what the product "could" be;  It could have been: "R"oyal, "S"pecial, "M"asters Degree, and "B"est and they choose Royal.

Oh, well that takes out one argument then. I'll give a Switch port about 60% odds then.

from that pic she looks like the female protagonist from Persona 3 portable.

While it's not certain that that is the Persona 5 protagonist (due to a number of reasons that are confusing), my hype thrusters are at maximum power for a female protagonist.

The female route in Persona 3 made Persona 3 a million, billion times better for me.

Elaborating on this, the female character in the trailer says she doesn't agree with the Phantom Thieves, so she may not be a female protagonist. (Unless she is lying for some reason.)

I think she IS the female protagonist. The route will be different though because of her stance on Phantom Thieves.

I’m pretty sure atlus has used every registered domain in the past, so this “register many choose one” doesn’t make sense

She could also be a Marie type character , or an antagonist who unlike Makoto is already  a persona user who sides with akechi but later joins the team , or my wish that she is the P3P female protagonist who has seen what the phantom thieves are up to and decides to intervene, how that would resolve itself with P3's  ending and the male protagonist being canon would be the sticking point that makes it unlikely.

Again with the PS4 logo at the start.
This is starting to look more and more like a second version of Persona 5, which should come to Switch as well. But the PS4 logo at the start on Atlus' own channel is unusual for multiplatform titles.
Maybe Switch gets a different protagonist?

Yeah, a bit. She has longer hair than the female P3 protagonist though. But that could be due to a time skip.

It being the P3P female opens up a whole can of worms, like the male mc being canon and then having to explain how she got to this point in time considering the ending of P3, there has been conjecture about Elizabeth rescuing or replacing the mc, arising from her comments when leaving, but those theories taking into account Margaret's comments were being looked at as a premise for a whole new story, and would seem a waste if it was used for P5R , still even if the reality doesn't live up to the hype generated by all the conjecture that will be brought up between now and release, it still makes P5R high on my anticipation meter.

I honestly think it's a bit hilarious that all these Persona announcements keep happening and people all thought they were going to be Switch related, and wouldn't ya know, they aren't. I specifically remember a lot of people thinking R (and maybe S? though I think that's just the anime special) were going to be the codenames for the Switch port, and yet here we are.

Don't get me wrong I hope it comes to the platform but by now we shouldn't take any of this as a certainty. Here's hoping something gets announced next month.

About Persona 5 S, I don't expect the Switch version to be called Persona 5 Switch.
If it's the same as the PS4 version, that'd just cause unnecessary confusion when they could have kept the names the same.
And if they're different enough to warrant different names, calling it 'Switch' would be awkward in the future if they want to port the game to other systems.
So I think it'd be smarter to stick to names like "The Golden", "The Royal" etc.

S could be the anime special, since it's called Stars and Ours.

That's what I kind of thought, too.

Are you sure there is none nudity/blood/gore scene in SMTV? Even SMTIV have some. Also, "I still don't see any big game that was censored on PS4". Tell that to this game:

https://www.dualshockers.com/devil-may-cry-5-censor-pc-ps4-xbox-one/

Devil May Cry V was censored on Xbox One and Steam as well. (And that article claims it will update as the story develops, but they still haven't updated that part.) Playstation can't censor the Xbox and Steam version, so that means it was Capcom's decision to do it on those platforms.
You'll have to ask them why they chose to censor different butts on different platforms though.

So you mean DMCV censored A on Xbox/PC, but on PS4, it censored both A+B (even worse), right?

April 24th, huh? Sounds like a very plausible release date for Joker in Smash... if that's the case, I wonder what more they'd want to announce there.

Oh right. The Direct said we should expect Joker before the end of April, so that would certainly fit. If a Nintendo Direct is announced for April 24th or 23rd I will lose my shit.
