Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony State Of Play - Iron Man VR, No Man’s Sky VR, Days Gone Update

I think if they keep consistent, once a month, last Monday of the month or something then this will be okay. Getting a highlight real if news and updates isn't bad as long as their Summer State of Play is E3 levels worthwhile. Interested in Iron Man VR, Observation, Days Gone and Blood and Truth.

All I can say lol.

That had a disturbing amount of VR in it. I hope their future updates don't have this much VR. If Sony really is committing this heavily to VR, then I fear for their future.

sounds fun tho I expect usual complaining after it about it being underwhelming because gamers love complaining

Damn, you called that one, lol.

Remember a couple E3s ago when Sony announced a pile of upcoming PS Vita games, and that was pretty much the last time they spoke about it?

I'm getting the same vibe about all of those VR announcements.

*Sony shows lots of new VR stuff*

VR sCePtIcS "hah, another sign that VR is dead"

*Sony shows lots of new Vita stuff*

Vita sCePtIcS "hah, another sign that Vita is dead"

.... ohh wait...

Not a VR skeptic, thanks. I just believe that VR won't ever be more than a niche product with a loyal fan base that feverishly defends it. It's not skepticism to recognize that Sony missed yet another golden opportunity to announce PS VR's overall sales, and instead decided not to, which likely means that it hasn't surpassed 4 million in sales yet, which indicates that PSVR sales are already slowing -  just like the Vita was when Sony announced around a dozen vita titles at E3 that year.

But hey, please feel free to mock and deride anyone that isn't a diehard VR fan, as if that doesn't support my opinion.

They just announced today that it sold 4.2 million.

Feb 2017-915k

Dec 2017-2 million (~1.1m in 10 months)

August 2018-3 million (1m in 8 months)

March 2019-4.2 million (1.2m in 7 months)

Looks like sales are picking up.

Edit: overall I agree with you though, it will remain a relatively niche accessory with a loyal fanbase.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

I thought it was pretty good, pacing was great and showed off a bunch of neat games. No megatons but that's ok, it's the first one and they are just testing the waters.

I swear if Sony keeps doing like this, their position in the market will be endangered.

If that is all they have to show, I would have skipped E3 as well...

Agreed. Plus, they never pushed it like it would have megatons, so I don't know what people were expecting. It's only March. They'll have a bigger one, or a PS meeting, later in the year for the big guns like PS5.
