Sony State Of Play - Iron Man VR, No Manís Sky VR, Days Gone Update

Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony State Of Play - Iron Man VR, No Manís Sky VR, Days Gone Update

Superb for psvr. No man's sky psvr is a megaton. Iron man too. The platform will be supported for another year. Sony know if they abandon it nobody would buy it on the PS5.

Remember a couple E3s ago when Sony announced a pile of upcoming PS Vita games, and that was pretty much the last time they spoke about it?

I'm getting the same vibe about all of those VR announcements.

*Sony shows lots of new VR stuff*

VR sCePtIcS "hah, another sign that VR is dead"

Why is that unrealistic?

Why shouldn't we? If they want to skip e3, it is ok to expect something in the first half of the year

They are skipping E3 but that doesn't mean this was the only thing they will do for the 1st half of the year. I'm sure, as it was stated, that they will at least have another State of Play before or at the time of E3, and/or something else too to compensate for not being on stage.

They are trying to mimic Nintendo Directs, so yeah, Im going to compare their "State of Play" to those.

Wether it was wise to have expected something out of this is another discussion entirely.

It's fair to compare them to Directs since they are indeed very similar, but this was their first one. I remember the first Direct not being so hot either.

Let's be optimistic, but not so much that we set the bar super high up and end up being disappointed by our own expectations.

If you review a game or a movie, you will inevitably compare it to other mvoies that are airing at the time, or that came out recently, wether they had a big budget or not. When you are reviewing something you ignore wether they are newbies or if they are doing it for the first time, because at the end of the day, its a product that they want to sell.

Same for this Direct wannabe.Sony wants you to tune in, like people tune in to directs. So yeah, Ill judge them by those standards. And even if Nintendo first direct wasnt all that hot(Dont remember if it was or wasnt), it was judged back in its day if it was worth the time or not.People didnt really care that Nintendo was still trying to get the hang of it.It had the benefit of not having competition, but thats on Nintendo favor for being the first.

I mean it was below average, but what where some of you expecting? TLOU2, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima? That was unrealistic at best.

Expecting companies to actually show their games, how unrealistic.

Maybe Sony needs to set the correct expectations for these direct. Even MS lets you know theirs will be indie games so people do not expect some megaton stuff.

Felt like a waste of time

I mean, the problem is bigger than that.It dosent matter if you temper expectations if you still dosent have enough good games to show, but you have a point.

Sony has about 5 or 6 years of Nintendo directs to learn how to do one. They could ahve easily stated in the tweet when they announced the State of Play that it would be mostly about VR games and you're good.People would still be dissapointed, but far less.

I wouldn't call something like no man's sky vr a mega ton, but i agree with the rest of the sentiment here. This is a good sign for PSVR going forward and heading into PS5.

Overall, it was nice. I would give it a 6/10. It about met my expectations. Though honestly I joined in late and didn't see all the VR titles - which was good, didn't really want to.

I have to say though that while Concrete Genie looks nice, I was kind of hoping it wouldn't have voice acting, or at least to that extent. It would be nice to have had a protagonist that was more comparable to something like The Last Guardian or Ico where there isn't really so much talking as there is just verbal grunts or noises. This is the perfect game to have the "show don't tell" philosophy behind it, and while the bullies did have dialogue in the previous trailers it always added to the feeling of a menacing threat being near by during gameplay rather than distracting from the atmosphere. I also feel like the facial animations are nowhere near as smooth as what they are trying to pull off - it looks comparable to something like Coraline but it isn't nearly as good at matching realistic movements while keeping an exaggerated and cartoonish aesthetic. It's almost like you're watching Coraline but with a few frame skips in-between the VA work.

Loved the CTR trailer, probably my most hyped game of the year!

Some nice PS VR announcements and a good trailer for Days Gone, why are so many people disappointed? It was very clear that there would be no big AAA news. The only disappointing thing would be no news about Death Stranding because that game was teased to be there.
