Forums - Sales Discussion - Global Hardware March 9th 2019

another 180k chipped off the X1 lead over the Switch. If that rate was to continue (which is very unlikely during the summer months for the Switch to be capable of selling high enough figures to maintain it unless the X1 sells negative amounts of systems per week) then the Xbox1 lead will last pretty much exactly one year more over the Switch, I think unless there is some major hardware revisions dropped from either camp it will probably happen during the 2019 Christmas period where I think the Switch will shift close on to a million per week while the X1 should be mostly done by then.

Edit - Have to say I knew my interest in ever getting an X1 was not gonna happen when I seen the system on clearance here, I had the same moment with the WiiU a few years back seeing it on offer for something crazy like €100 and passing, I think you know when you walk away from a deal like this there isn't much else the system can do to be appealing to you.

Did consider it quite a bit just for the Controller for my PC :D

Good week again for ps4 and Switch. When will xbox break the 100k barrier again?

With Gears Of War (if its still coming this year). I think XBOX will drop below 50.000 during this summer. I don't think the new 199 $ only digital Xbox will help that much. Especialy if they announce new Xbox for 2020 realese during E3.  The  problem with digital only system is that it is ONE S which is unable to play modren games at playble resolution and fps. Thy shoul kill the ONE S. One S  performance is giving XBOX bad rep.

That seems a bit hyperbolic. The Switch has a lot lower resolutions than the Xbone S and it's selling like crack so the general consumer doesn't seem to consider sub-1080p resolutions unplayable.

The problem isn't the graphics, it's the games.

With that upcoming game lineup starting June? I don't think that's impossible at all. XBO will probably slump even further down while the Switch will most probably have it's biggest summer yet. I do think in spring the Switch sales will slow down a notch, but will rebound after Super Mario Maker.

Also lol, buying an entire console just for the controllers ^^

I was pretty much thinking the same thing. From the end of March onwards it should be much easier.

well an X1 controller costs around 50e and the 1TB laptop drive in this would be about the same (if it's a standard laptop drive like inside the PS4) was literally just thinking of it as parts if I wouldn't use the system itself, just buy it to kinda have an X1 in the collection. Considering the game with it was Rocket League though which I have on Switch, PS4 and the PC and I've got online access on all those systems for it so I really don't imagine I'll pay 50e for 12 months of live so after the initial trial the system would be kinda gameless I feel.

Cheap at €180 but still... cheap if I'm not going to use it is pointless a purchase all the same, might as well leave it for someone who is looking for a cheap entry to gaming.

Would be cool to see, it's just that normally all systems suffer a slump in sales during the summer months I think. I'm not saying anything bad about the upcoming games for the Switch, I've got FFVII becoming playable in 3 days and Cuphead unlocking for me next month :D I'm at 202 games on my Switch now so I'm definitely in no need of more titles heh, my 400GB micro SD is already full

Based on what?  The PS2 sold 16m units in 2006.  There aren't weekly sales for the PS2 on this site, but I'm sure it was pulling over 200k per week easily.  The Nintendo DS, which we do have weekly sales for on this site was pulling in over 300k most weeks of 2010, which is over 5 years after it's 2004 release.

Those are the best selling consoles of all time. They had to have staying power

Explain to me why a successful well-received console like the PS4, which will be eclipsing 100m units sold has "no right to be selling 200k a week" when it doesn't even have a successor announced yet.  To me it's faux surprise at successful console selling successfully.

Switch still on cruise control. Ps4 still showing plenty of life in its old age. XB1 slowly dying off smh......

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

PS4 selling at a very decent rate is quite impressive but moreso it is considering, that Sony hasn't made a big price cut yet, almost 5 1/2 years after launch. The last time I checked (I'm from Germany), the Pro bundle incl. RDR2 is at 435€, the Pro at 389€ and the PS4 slim at 299€.

Years ago, I bet on PS4 selling around 100 million units lifetime, but it seems like it could even reach 120-130 million lifetime sales easily, which is absolutely amazing.

why are ps4 numbers so high its not even at 199 yet

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
