Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Stadia running on a Switch

So after the reveal of the Stadia platform, I've being thinking.

Basically you need an device to run the platform, it doesn't matter the overall power of it, as long as it can run video streaming. The obvious limitation of the Stadia is an always on-line policy, since all the processing would be done in the servers.

Could we have situation where do you have the Switch with an Stadia App, to run all the Third-Party games that the little machine could not run. And also still have the First-Party Nintendo games running off-line, in the device.

I know this is far from becoming a reality, but would pretty much make my Switch the one place for gaming at all.

And then, there is this:

Right. Beyond the smartphone controller clamps, the obvious solution to that would be a Switch-style client device that you would make.

Phil Harrison: There are some really good third-party solutions which we support from launch and we have some other ideas as well, but we're not going to share those right now.

Stadia requires a internet browser, so thats not gonna happening ;)

i mean this is obvious isnt it?

Google doesn't care about the hardware as long as they can get their client running on it cause thats how they will make their money.

It comes down to Nintendo more than anything I feel

They are always aiming in selling their Toys, from a simple business perspective and they would still be selling. Why any Mainstream Nintendo Gamer would buy another machine to Play Stadia + Nintendo?

That move would at least give them legs to go the hardware route, until going full Third-Party.

You need a browser to watch YouTube on pc.

Switch has YouTube app.

Ive said this before but this all streaming future will benefit Nintendo the most because of their hardware limitations. It pretty much solves the switch AAA games problems. And it will destroy Sony and Microsoft business.

switch got horrible wifi ..well atleast my unit

Windows 10 has the YouTube app as well.

But who’s using that app?

Anyways, and how do you think they are going to stream stadia to iOS devices? Through chrome? LOL APPLE wouldn’t allow deep access of third party apps like that. You can’t even download on chrome IOS. It will have a separate app just like YouTube or most likely it’s going in the YouTube app itself.

I mean legally on Switch ... Nintendo probably would never allow it because they won't get any revenue from it.

But Homebrewed Switch systems? Yeah probably they'll find a way to do it if you really want.

That said, I mean you'd probably be better off using a regular tablet with a better display than 720p. You should still be able to use your Joycons as it seems like the Google service just recognizes almost any kind of controller input.

In Japan Resident Evil 7, Phantasy Star Online and Assassins Creed Odyssey are available via streaming on Switch. So yes, Switch obviously could support Stadia. Question is if Nintendo wants that.

Switch already has a browser, not available to the users, but available to the devs. Facebook-connection, eshop and many game manuals are made with this.
