Forums - Politics Discussion - Official 2020 US Election: Democratic Party Discussion

One thing that annoys me about the process is the polling. First, I never get asked and second, some polls only track people with landlines... which is like nearly no one. I cant think of a more inaccurate method... oh but I'm sure there is one lol.

This is false for many years already, and Nate Silvers from 538 has extensively discussed about it if you want to check for yourself. In fact the last landline-only polls as a relevant source of data in the US date to 2008 - 2010 when they were recognizably dissonant from election results by the media, anyway.

Not to mention polls work with statistical samples to portray reality. Out of a population of 300,000,000 adults, the chances you are polled in an election cycle, if there's some 200,000 people interviewed between all of the polls, is about 0.0066%.

endorsements

For this I take the data from the 538-endorsement-tracker. They apply each office a point-value, based on importance. The above graph shows the point-value of the endorsements and a percentage of the complete pool. Overall just 16% of the possible endorsements are taken, so there is room for change. Maybe the debates will bring in new endorsements.

You switched Cory Booker and Kamala Harris, FYI.

Beto has got destroyed by DeBlasio, Delaney and Castro.

Watching in on NBC instead, since they have also a liveticker factchecking their claims.

Yeah, at this rate he'll be the big loser over the day

Maybe then he'll run as senator for Texas again. The Democrats need more Senators, not presidential candidates.

Trumps reaction:

And that's just the start of a slew of posts

So far, all candidates have done well.

I have a hard time agreeing in regards to Beto. A yes or no question becomes a 2 minute story that still doesn't answer the question

I missed the first 10 minutes where I think he got slammed early on and then immediately after my post he dodged a question.

The Castro retort hurt Beto too.  He's definitely losing at this point.

And it's boosting Castro a lot, apparently Google Trends on Julian Castro is spiking by a whooping 2400%
