On all likehood, it'll be the last debate for Yang, Klobuchar and Steyer, which means we should head for the last pre-Iowa debates with four candidates.

Except if, God help us all, Bloomberg makes it. He certainly is looking more likely to than the others I've mentioned, given his averages.

Klobuchar, for sure. Steyer, very probably. But Yang is rising in the polls, I wouldn't count him out yet.

*sighs*

Well, anyone who wondered what would happen to the race here in Texas without native son Beto O'Rourke in contention can wonder no longer. According to the new CNN poll of Texas Democratic primary voters, it's looking like...

Biden: 35%
Sanders: 15%
Warren: 13%
Buttigieg: 9%
Bloomberg: 5% <-- Yes, really. He really is starting to buy relevance. This really is happening.

The contrast with the same survey's findings out of California is stark in that it reveals, not really to my surprise, that Texas Democrats are more conservative than the national party is, as Biden's lead here isn't simply based on people wanting to vote pragmatically, but is instead based on actual agreement with his stances on the issues across the board. That's what happens without a native Texan in the race. Shocker.

As to the chances of Texas voting Democratic for a change in 2020's presidential election, that's looking like a possibility, but, at least according to this data, only if Biden is the nominee. And it's still somewhat unlikely even then.

YaY. It's so much fun being a leftist in Texas.

Uran said he's a volunteer for Bernie and I think it'd be fun to know how many of us here are volunteer/paid campaign staff for our candidate of choice. So are any of you part of your candidates campaign?

I'm also a volunteer for Bernie. I regularly canvass, make calls, and go to and help out with events. I've also tabled a few times. Btw we're seeing incredible enthusiasm y'all and from people who don't normally vote!

I consider myself a supporter of the Bernie Sanders campaign in that I intend to vote for Sanders in the Texas Democratic primary, at least as things presently stand. But I'm not on a payroll for it. I'm flexible and persuadable and could ultimately vote differently yet (though it's looking unlikely that I will). There are a good four candidates I'm open to supporting.

Does Bloomberg even accept donations? Without donors he will never make the debates.

I don't know if y'all heard but a literal neo-nazi wrote a hit piece on Bernie insinuating that he, a Jewish man whose close family was killed by Hitler, is an Anti-Semite... You can't make this stuff up omfg and the media is running with it!

They're trying to do what they did to Jeremy Corbyn but that angle won't work with Sanders.

See, this is one of the reasons why I'm a big supporter of compulsory voting. As if everybody is not just allowed to vote, but has to vote, they simply can't exclude people from voting lists for no good reason.

Or like I told my German teacher 16 years ago who thought compulsory voting would be dictatorial and compulsory military service as the pinnacle of democracy:

"With compulsory voting, Adolf (Hitler) would never had been voted into office. With reintroduction of the compulsory military service, he was able to start both a world war and a genocide. So, which one did you find democratic and which one demagogic again?"

I disagree somewhat, I don't agree with compulsory voting, but I do agree with everyone being automatically registered at age 18. That way they couldn't purge anyone from any polls since everyone is registered. Voting and not voting is also a part of democracy, I mean.. if I could have voted in 2016 I would have voted for Jill, but if it was just trump and Hillary? lol sitting home.

Well, you always can invalidate your vote. Seems pointless, but it is counted although it has in most system no influence on the outcome. But if a high number of invalid votes is reported, people start to ask why.
