What do people think of this? I'll be honest, I didn't actually want her to leave Congress altogether. I have my grievances with her, but she was an important anti-war voice and a good voice against the establishment, and usually a pretty progressive vote. She's not going to become president, like it or not, so to me, this really just feels like career suicide on her part. She better hope she ends up as part of the next president's administration.

On first glance this TED-talk has not much to do with the democratic primaries, but if I think about what is talked abut, it clearly illustrates the different approaches of the candidates in the race. So give it a look:

It's funny, I agree with a lot of what he's saying, but what he's saying doesn't sound like capitalism. A new economics that relies on cooperation and inclusivity to create an equitable and sustainable society? Sounds like socialism to me. If it's some third option, fine, but it's not capitalism.

The long time of the cold war and it's associated propaganda has left the impression as if capitalism and socialism are the only choices. In the earyl 20th century anarchism was established as a third way, but it's communities were destroyed by war, notably was it in ukraine (destroyed by the communists) and spain (destroyed by the fascists under Franco). Also the kurds of northern Syria have formed some society, which is neither capitalism nor socialism, although were is no term coined for it. We also still have feudalism that predated both capitalism and socialism in Saudi Arabia.

If we stop thinking of the form of economy and society as a binary choice between capitalism and socialism, a lot of options open up. In the end, you can take elements of both what you like and mix them together to reach something you want. Some of the current candidates in the democratic primaries are willing to make things better, but either fail to think outside this binary choice or are unwilling to say so. That is why some candidates swear allegiance to capitalism. Others are more willing to leave the capitalist framework to make things better.

According to Quinnipiac,
1. Elizabeth Warren - 28%
2. Biden - 21%
3. Bernie Sanders - 15%
4. Pete Buttigieg - 10%
5. Kama Harris - 5%
6. Amy Klobuchar - 3%

Gains to Klobuchar and Buttigieg who have increased since the Summer. Mainly at the expense of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Elizabeth Warren holds on and Sanders returns to his status quo of 15-16% after a slight dip due to his heart attack.

So much for the progressive vote having a split, it looks like it's in fact the moderate vote that is splitting.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

According to a former Clinton adviser Hillary is waiting for Biden to drop out of the race to enter.

Oh, by the way, Rashida Tlaib is also endorsing Bernie Sanders:

Oh, and the criteria for debates get stricter: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/qualifying-for-the-december-debate-will-be-difficult-for-many-democrats/

Looks to me like the stage for December will be Biden, Sanders, Warren, Buttigieg, Harris, with a chance for 1-3 more. Steyer stands a chance of effectively buying his way into the debates, but it's not a sure thing. Yang's shown a lot of growth, so I could see him making it in. If Amy didn't break out yet, she's never going to, so she's toast and should drop out, but maybe, just maybe O'Rourke could squeeze one last ounce of momentum from his campaign. If he can't, he should drop out too. Bennet, Booker, Bullock, Castro, Delaney, Gabbard, Sestak, and Williamson should drop out immediately, they all stand no chance. Oh and Wayne Messam, if he's still running, which I think he is. He's just an embarrassment now.

NH and AZ polls.

I found this article quite interesting:

For decades, the Democratic party has been effectively controlled by the sort of people who work at an investment bank but also support gay marriage (at least when the polls say that it’s safe to do so). These people are almost as responsible as Republicans for our current political predicament. Even if they didn’t start the war on terror or the war on the poor, they utterly failed to stop them.
