Forums - Gaming Discussion - How much $ do you spend on gaming?

I'm a little curious to know how much my fellow VGChartianz spend on gaming. Some of these questions might be too personal, so answer only if you're comfortable please.

1. How much do you typically spend on gaming each year. Recent big gaming purchases?

2. How do you fund your gaming habits (i.e., what do you do for a living), and if you're comfortable answering, how much do you make?

I don't make many topics, so I wasn't sure if this was Gaming Discussion or Off Topic.

For me, I probably spend maybe $200 per month on games, but that can fluctuate depending on game releases. So on a yearly basis, using 2018 as an estimate, my guess is $3,500 ~ $4,000. I bought a new graphics card, PSVR, PS4 Pro, several new controllers for various systems, and NES/SNES minis (just off the top of my head).

As for my profession, I am a web application developer. I was just shy of six figures on my tax return.

I looked what i have spent on gaming since January 1st and it is getting close to $900. A lot of that has gone to Limited Run where one order alone is at $180. I know that many people might look at that think that is way to much money to spend on games the first three months of the year, but i don't drink alcohol, do any of the nicotine-crap or do any drugs so i save a lot of money saved just there.

Since so many others have listed their purchases i think i should too
Limited Run Megapack $176,96
Iconoclasts Limited Run $49.99
Another World Limited Run $44.99
ToeJam and Earl Limited Run $49.99
The Escapists Limited Run $44.99
Hollow Knight Fangamer $39.57
New Super Mario Bros U $47
Tales of Vesperia $36
The Raven Remastered $32
Yesterday Origins $21
The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 $35
Resident Evil 2 $46
Call of Cthulhu $30
Abzu $8
Far Cry New Dawn $52
Metro Exodus $46
Devil May Cry 5 $46
Kingdom Hearts 1.5+2.5 $35
Kingdom Hearts 2.8 $24
Kingdom Hearts 3 $58
Drowning Well, actually free with gold coins

And coming in the next few week
Sekiro Shadows Die Twice $69
Yoshi's Woolly World $69

Around 250-3000€ a year. I mostly just buy games during sales, except some Nintendo titles and of course Crowdfunding.

Recently I've spent very little (ie. nothing at all). I haven't for awhile actually, last purchase was Spyro re-ignited and before that FIFA 19. Those are the only 2 brand new games I bought last year and I think I only bought 5 games total in 2018 too. No hardware purchases recently either, although I do intend to buy a new PC soon.

As for income, there'll be seven figures on my tax return

You make millions but you don't buy many games? What do you do for a living if you don't mind me asking?

Edit: Oh, geez.

1 million yen is 9000 USD

I get it now. Very funny.

Probably 2000 plus a year, 80% on Sony and probably 20% on Nintendo.

As much as necessary. The only thing I'm currently holding back for is a 2500€ monitor and a 1300€ GPU.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Not much these days. School and girlfriend come first, I guess (she also spends on me, so it's ok). Last game I purchased was Octopath Traveler, but I remember that I spent A LOT in Switch's first year, probably more than 1.5K, which is a lot considering that I only win 65 dollars a week, even less back then.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

My main spending is Xbox live + Xbox Gamepass = $120
I pick up a few $100 gift card when they are on special during Xmas that last me quite a while. $300 or so. I normally don't buy a game when it release I wait for the price to drop. Wait for sales combined with Gamepass can save you alot of money. Always jump on the Gamepass deal... I current got 6 months of gamepass for only $35 CAD.

I would say I spend at least $500 CAD.

In 2018, I bought the Switch, Xbox one S & Xbox one X. I probably spent around $2500 that year. Cheap if you consider the price of one gaming computer.

I wont tell you how much I make but here is the average for CPA and I make more then the Average.
How much does a Certified Public Accountant make in Alberta?
City Average salary
Certified Public Accountant in Edmonton, AB 21 salaries $88,252 per year
Certified Public Accountant in Lethbridge, AB 8 salaries $79,065 per year
Certified Public Accountant in Medicine Hat, AB 6 salaries $86,621 per year

I wanna say ~$600 per year on average?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

About $95 a month, and that's with getting everything for nearly 30% off. I pretty much buy everything that gets 80% or higher on Opencritic, with a few exceptions. I think I buy two or three games a year that are borderline at 78 or 79.
