Forums - PC Discussion - Steam is a Mess

I know.. how dare I say anything bad about the gaming gods of PC. However this needs to be addressed. Iv mentioned this many times and thanks to my old friend Jim, someone has finally put out a video about it.

Steam is still my number one place to play my PC games however they have dropped the ball.. big time. The amount of trash that floods the Steam store is horrible. Competition is coming and improving and instead of Valve getting out of there high chair, they sit back and watch as there "no standards game policy" is destroying what was once a great place to game.

Gone are the days of browsing Steams store and finding many quality games, all we have now is great games hidden under the a blanket of filth that developers try to push Steams standards of entry and force a sale to the unaware.

Broken, Offensive, Rude, Trash, Unfinished games now rule the Steam store and unless you personally know what you are looking for I suggest avoid browsing the Steam store altogether.

I might get a lot of hate with this topic however someone needs to speak up and start telling it how it is. Quality control needs to be a thing, Uplay, Origin, Win10, Battle.net, Epic Games Store, GoG are a thing, gone are the days where Steam had little to no competition, now they have dozens of launchers willing to steal off Steam, and what really bothers me with Valves management.. they are doing nothing about it, they are just sitting back watching as other companies steal games, make games, and rightly avoid putting games on Steam due to Valves lack of effort and image.

As Jim stated in the video, imagine having a great game you just released on Steam lined up next to AIDs Simulator? Steam allows school shootings, rape games, porn and more which is disgusting. I am strongly against games getting banned for all the wrong reasons like L4D2 which had to be censored to be released in some parts of the worlds, but who in there right mind will put School shooting games or rape games on your launcher which is meant to be for everyone? They literally made Steam for everyone alright.

Steam needs a good Steam Cleaning. I really hope they start changing soon or I might start looking elsewhere. At least with the other launchers they are at least trying.

I highly recommend watching the video posted below to gauge a true understanding of the Steam eco-system. Everything you need to know is right there.

Jim Sterling's Video.

Steam's issues are born from the fact that Valve doesn't seem to want to do anything themselves to moderate the content that their store is selling. The Epic Games Store isn't perfect either, but if its existence means that Valve actually has to improve their policies and actions then I'd say it's a net positive regardless.

I prefer everything than just triple Ass or political correct games. But steam is starting to delete games even when they said they are allowing every game to sell on steam. So now i think steam can go to hell. Games are art that must not be limited!

Yeah considering they have user reviews, they should simply throw out games that have a bad rating.
They won't generate huge sales, so Valve would lose barely any money and they would keep the store clean from shit.

This has always been my big beef with Steam, I remember looking up rpgs once and I got like 90% rpg maker shovelware trash. Just makes the store look tacky.

Doesn't really bother me, I guess. I have the ability to ignore the games I don't want to play. And rarely do I find myself browsing through the store looking for something to buy.

When you look back at things you stood up for.... Rape and school shooting games shouldn't be on your list that you feel proud about.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Yeah, it's really messy lately. But I don't usually see the shitty stuff on the front page.

Or you can use a bit of common sense.  I've never even seen the games you're talking about.  I look at featured, top selling, curator recommendations, general recommendations, and, most importantly, the discovery queue.  Mostly, though, I just wait for an email to tell me if a game is on sale on my massive wishlist.  A quick mouse over for any game shows me the user reviews so I can dismiss anything in under a second.

I really have no problem.

I don't mind all the games. Finding good stuff seemed hard even before everything was allowed, and I've still been able to find new and interesting games after the change. For all I know, it's not much different, and there's more freedom than there was, which is good.
