Do you have a favorite genre or are you more into exclusives?

I barely play my X1. It has zero exclusives that entice me compared to my PS4 and Switch. I will play on XBox when the next true Fable game is released.

I play my PS4 and Switch about equally. What has me going back to my Switch is the ability to play at home or on the go seamlessly with a single purchase.

With that in mind...what exactly is the point of this thread?

I rarely play my Switch too. I probably play 30mins to an hour a week. My younger sister uses it a lot so it balances out.

I haven't played my Nintendo Switch much The last game I played was Tetris 99 for only 2 days before that absolutely nothing for almost 7 months I think?Tetris 99 was kinda fun but its not a genre I'm into even though it's fun . What keeps me coming back to PS4 instead of Switch Is Fighting games and yes fighting games is my prefered genre but I love playing it using party chat .Also I haven't bought smash because it doesn't have a combo system and I'm an advanced combo showman in my youtube channel uploading some very tough advance combos in alot of fighting games I also play online broadcasting using Ps4 broadcast feature . When Pokemon Switch comes out I'll obviously pick up my Switch again and play it but Pokemon is not my type of game or genre I'm into I used to be into Pokemon yellow every day when I was 10 years old And I played pokem X and Y but played it lesser . Even If Nintendo had Tekken 7 or dead or Alive 6 on Switch I'd still play it Ps4 instead because of the advanced players go against online , Party chat, and Broadcasting in twitch/youtube feature found in Ps4. I like to challenge myself online competitively .

You like sport, not useless fun.

I understand you because I am a speedrunner. I have not played for just fun any video game since...2012 maybe, with only an exception for Breath of the wild.

Except for speedrunning I feel no attraction at all to just play for nothing.

I rarely play my PS4 because I'm never in a position to sit down for hours, but I can have my Switch around me for whenever I have time to play or need to relax.  I have quite a few unplayed PS4 games that I simply just do not have time for.

I don't play my Switch as much as I'd like too because I have to prioritize my life at the moment. But, for me if you have tastes in a lot of genres it's hard to not enjoy the device. There will be dry spells, but 2019 is looking to be closer to 2017 in terms of software output. I don't play my PS4 much anymore because it doesn't fit my lifestyle anymore. But yeah if you like traditional fighting games PS4 is the better place to play due to its seniority.

It's all just a matter of preference, I barely touch my Ps4, but my Switch and Xbox One get played constantly. Really addicted to Mario Tennis Aces.

I just spent the better part of the last month sitting at a bedside, my wife and children at home, with a whole lot of time just... waiting for the inevitable, I played my switch solidly for the first few days as myself and my siblings all took turns being at that beside and enduring the suffering. But, as I "caught up" with my backlog of Switch games, I found myself wishing that I had a new vita or at least more of the games that I really enjoyed coming back to, which as it turns out, isn't Nintendo games. Before long I just stopped bringing it to the hospital/hospice center every day and would just save the gaming until my brother and I got back to his place so we could fire up the PS4, and play the games we liked to play together, I am completely done with Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, Zelda, Kirby, Doom, Bayonetta, and Mario + Rabbids. I've never been a Smash or Pokemon fan, and I have no interest in picking up third party titles I've already played, and beaten months if not years ago on other platforms, and I just don't know what's left for me. My Switch is slowly but surely becoming nothing more than the neat thing that gets played at friend gatherings and little more. Sure, Mario Kart 8 and Mario Party are the same laughs they've been for 20 years (and to be honest not much has changed vs theier Wii counterparts). Mario Tennis Aces has shown that it's gameplay is increasingly grating as the key to success is mastering gimmicks rather than tennis itself. So here I am, looking at Zelda: Link's Awakening and Grid: Autosport and thinking "I guess so since there's really nothing else".

I used to bring my vita everywhere and never ran out of something to play for years and years. There was always something else to keep my going, or something compelling to keep me going back to. The more time goes on, the more confident I am that if Sony announced a new portable tomorrow with say, PS4 digital compatibility, my Switch would quickly go up on craigslist, and probably wouldn't be missed.

Side note: Pick up Super Mega Baseball 2 if you can. Super solid game, but, unsurprisingly, not available on Switch.

I barely play mine lately, either. Logged in about 10 hours of NSMB U, purchased War Groove and really expected to love it like I did Valkyria Chronicles 4, Advance Wars, or Final Fantasy Tactics. Instead, I've been playing Pikmin 3 on Wii U when I'm home and watching movies and YouTube videos when I'm bored at work.

Thinking back, a similar thing happened with my 3DS, Vita, and PSP. I just go through a phase where I'm carrying them around everywhere but never playing them. Then I get in the mood and the battery is totally dead or even worse, months pass and I NEVER feel like playing them again.

You have other consoles so it's not a big deal for you. I'm sure more games you like will come but for now you have other options.

I barely play my PS4 and haven’t really longed for it, especially since I have the Switch with me. The convenience of the Switch helps especially when the TV is being occupied. Things happen. Sometimes your interest wanes on a console. It can happen with any console for whatever reason.
