Forums - Gaming Discussion - Another JRPG Canceled on Xbox One, RPG Maker MV

Tagged games:

Was semi-interested in this one but based on the stability problems the Japanese version is having, this isn't a huge loss. Xbox brand will never have a stake in the Japanese gaming market the way Sony or Nintendo does.

A thread for a cancelled port of an RPG maker game?

Seems like it. Not relevant imho.

You guys will eat crow when this sells big numbers in the west.

But if that was expected I guess they would have supported Xbox...

Then where are Persona Q and Persona Q 2 on both ps4/xbox 1?

Yes if ps4 gets Persona Q and Q 2 xbox will too but i dont think they care for Persona Q.

The problem is: all the games i mentioned stayed exclusive on Nintendo systems, so is Persona 5 is Sony exclusive. There is no reason for Persona 5 to come to Xbox 1 if it didn't even come to Switch

I would gladly eat crow for a game doing well. I like RPGs and I like game making tools. But this just seems like a 20 year old thing.

Yeah that sucks. Yet, it really isn't that large a loss. A super niche title in a genre that notoriously underperforms on Xbox. MS has made some really strong moves getting Final Fantasy series and Neir Automata tho. Those are big snags that the system needed.

I question the sales of said games on Xbox tho. Is the potential of widerbase actually making these games more profitable or just stretching out their limited profit line? The margin disparity between PS4 FF sales and XB1 is large... could they not have saved Dev cost by just skipping xbox? Like I cannot fathom FFX and XII making their costs back on Xbox, would really be surprised. If MS is paying for them it makes sense. Sony, PC and Nintendo just own too much of that mindshare.

Do we know the average cost to get a PS4 game running properly on XB1?  I've been led to believe that its pretty simple in the current generation.  If so, the dev costs should be minimal.

Considering the claims of when gen started that some devs had like 2 people for couple weeks being able to make a port from PC to PS4. And considering how close the architecturesare, and that most games are made with PC then "translated" to console... I would say there is good chance that 10k sales pay a port.

I don't believe it's nearly as expensive as it used to be  before but haven't gotten the impression it's super cheap by most Dev standards.

Most jRPG devs are still staying away from Xbox like the plague.

I would say it is super cheape on gaming terms, but let's say you have a game with 1M sales on PS4 that a port would grant another 10k (and they wouldn't lose money on it), they probably wouldn't even bother making it anyway.

if switch gets persona 5 so will xbox. its much easier to port it to xbox so why not.

Probably because Atlus has way more confidence it will do better on Switch then PS4.

You're predicting that Persona 5 will do better on Switch than PS4?
