I would say "Fuck Capcom", but this is a widespread problem. Really, if the game already has the 18+ label, why bother censoring at all? Unless it is something reeeally "problematic", there should be no problem in offering adult-oriented themes to adults.

It has to do with the political climate we face in the world today.  When a game like God of War gets picked apart for being "too masculine" or Zelda Breath of the Wild is bashed by feminists for not having a female Link and saying that Zelda is just a damsel in distress (despite the fact that she is the one person keeping Ganon sealed for 100 years, making her more of a badass when you think a out it), I am not suprised thay devs are walking on egg shells.

All forms of censorship is bad in my eyes.  I just feel like the wrong people are being blamed for it.

Honestly, who cares? We've all played Bayonetta 2, where in one scene they showed everything but there was no nipples or asshole or vagina. That wasn't titillating in the slightest to have your character looking like a plastic manikin.

Don't get me wrong, I would definitely choose to play this game uncensored. Especially because these models are actually pretty ...... high quality.

But I doubt Sony is censoring Capcom especially because other platforms have this censorship. Capcom is too big for Sony to pressure or even for them to want to attempt it. (Right now, I could absolutely see it happening in the future though if Sony gets more and more confident in their ability to censor)

Although honestly, we *should* care but just from the perspective that a company engaging in self-censorship is bad for consumers and creators long term. WE ARE MEN, CAPCOM! MENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN! UNCENSOR THIS NOW HEATHENS!

No it's not. If they start making small devs censor their games but the big ones stay untouched, it could probably lead to either heavy controvery or lawsuits. The thing is, Capcom as a publisher probably doesn't mind the censorship, so it goes along with it. Selling their game is the number 1 priority (after all, without sales, there is no money by microtransactions). The fact that Sony asks for censorship of this kind in an 18+ game is worrying.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I mean, I *could* see a future where Sony tries enforcing it on larger publishers and I actually think that may happen but it would take a long time to get to that and honestly it doesn't seem like something that's going to be happening anytime soon. I'm also not sure how it would lead to lawsuits ... sounds like a huge stretch to me, the little guys wouldn't try to take Sony to task especially because most of these companies are based in Japan.

It's worrying but I honestly don't think the big games are going to face this scrutiny right now, it's the little projects which are argued to be less "tasteful".

True, but without Sony's new policies regarding mature content, do you think Capcom would've bothered? The big games are as affected as the smaller ones. More, in fact. Big companies are not going to risk their monumental investments for a naked butt, whereas an indie dev with a small but loyal userbase can just migrate to other platform (or just regular PC) and be safe in the thought of most of their customer base following them.

My first choice will be Twitter, I'm against hacking, however I'd understand if it is for a good cause.

Anyways small rant.. The game is rated M for Mature +17. At Gamestop the employees ask for ID to confirm age just like when you buy alcohol or smokes in some other shop. I agree censuring the game is really dumb in my opinion, and there is already parental controls on the system too so, WTH..

See, I don't disagree with you, but you're kind of talking about two separate things and linking them together just because they're in the same topic. One issue is Sony specifically censoring games as a policy, one issue is a company's own decision to self-censor to keep up with global trends, and they are NOT the same thing even if they are both related. Sony's "new censorship policies" are extremely vague and we don't know much about them yet, but I think it's pretty clear it's affecting smaller developers and not really big developers. Your point about PC would make sense, but most of the small-scale developers that are being targeted are in Japan, where PC gaming is nowhere near as popular as it is worldwide.

Censorship IS more of an issue in general with bigger companies but it's not because of Sony - it's because of self-censorship. Companies that are bigger have a more recognizable image and want to keep their brand intact. Now, in my opinion, a lot of companies go too far in doing this, especially because putting risky content in your games is now more normalized than ever. But ultimately big corporations appealing to an audience that don't even use their products in order to have a clean brand image is unfortunately something that happens quite often in the gaming industry, and that isn't Sony's fault.

So yes, censorship affects the bigger guys more, but Sony's censorship policies are much more affecting smaller developers especially those based in Japan.

I've got to admit, I chuckled at the person saying not to download a patch because it keeps them from seeing part of a bare ass. Yeah, I mean, I think I can live with that. If I were still twelve, I'd probably be furious, though.

Censorship needs to die. The game was clearly approved by every ratings organization with the butt crack in, why censor it out with a day one patch once it is already approved? I suspect Sony is ultimately behind this since we know they were behind other recent censoring. Why Capcom would cover for them by doing it to the other platforms too though is beyond me. Did Sony literally pay them to gimp the other versions so they wouldn't look as bad?

they don't play through the whole game in those ratings organizations, the devs usually show them the most risky scenes - maybe they only showed it censored (if that was the intended state)

and an age rating is not set in stone, it can be altered once the ratings organizations feel that's waranted

guess it's time to get an xbox
